Too good from Novak...nice lob there.
Not everyday Milos gets bageled well done to Kei. Had the pleasure of meeting him two weeks ago very nice in person.
Yay, Kei! Congrats!
So what rank will Nishikori jump to with this win?
16 in the ATP ranking
19 in the ATP race
Good win there by Kei, tuned in when the 3rd set was starting and kei totally crushed Milos
Karlovic got bageled a couple of times. Makes sense that Raonic should get a few too.
Man, Rosewall handing the trophy, what an honour.
Indeed. The flowers, in fact.
Milos got bagelled? Was he injured?
No, Milos just isn't that good.
The Japanese seem to be doing very well in front of their home crowd, with Kei winning Tokyo and Kobayashi coming 4th at Suzuka.
Will be nice to see Nishikori hopefully replace one of the two pretenders currently ranked 9 and 10.
Nope, just got outplayed. But he kind of went away in the 3rd set.
Diplomatic as ever Bawss
The Raonić bubble is about to burst.
Tiredness was probably a factor - both mental and physical. Yesterday would have taken a bit out of him.
As good and deserved as Milos' win was yesterday, I think some on here have gone predictably OTT on the back of it. Murray definitely wanted to win the match - no doubt about that; but he wanted to win the match in the context of being willing to play doubles until 7pm the previous day when he had a semi at 1200 the next.
Very pleased for Kei and it's extra sweet that he did it in front of his home crowd. This is great news for Japanese tennis too.
Milos probably treated yesterday's match like a final, physically and emotionally, so a slump today isn't surprising. Not that it takes anything away from Kei's win, which was thoroughly deserved. He's played great all week.
Good job, nice to see some new faces earning a few quid.
Kei is fun to watch. He's good at coming up with clever shots and nobody quite hits a forehand like he does.
He even invents his own shots. Watch Blake react.
Happy for Kei. It would be hard to win this event with one or two top 4 play this event each year.
Milos will have his 500 at Memphis next year.
I also felt as if the Murray match was a final...good insight into Raonic's possible mind-set. On the other hand Nishikori says that his win against Berdych inspired the tennis that he played in the final. And Raonic is no doubt kicking himself for losing his 3-0 lead in the ist TB.
i liked Raonic's comment in the ceremony that Nishikori was not only a good player but that he was also a good person.
Nah man he is just like Nadal. Some days he just isn't good enough, you know, like when Fed absolutely demolished Nadal and sent him away with his tail between his legs at the 02. Sucks when Nadal can't play on sandpaper doesn't it? IIRC actually the worst beat downs have all come from Fed in the past 3-4 years, isn't that right? Must suck knowing that your guy just isn't that good.
Then you can come back with your classic 8-2 finals record or whatever else crap you are going to post...go ahead; because it isn't just Fed. Djokovic then continued the onslaught in 2011 and won what, 7 straight finals? That sucks dude for you. Why won't you face the facts? Really though why won't you?
Congrats to Kei. I didn't get to watch the match but I am happy for Japan just like I am happy for my country in having a good player and person in Raonic representing us.
High quality tennis from Kei. He's an impressive shot maker. Good showing from Milos, despite getting bageled in the 3rd set. It's just matter time before both guys get into the top 10.
Gonna burst all over the top ten~!
I'll take Nadal's 21 masters titles and 11 slams, even if he does throw a stinker in every once in a while. And if I were you,I wouldn't trumpet Fed's beatdowns of Nadal over the years when there are many more of those beatdowns coming from the other side of the net more often than not.
Good win for Kei. Not a fan of Raonic so I was glad to see him lose.
Wow, did Raonic tank in the 3rd or something?
Man I expected Kei to do well, but to bagel Raonic is really something.
When was the last time Federer received a beatdown from Nadal. AFAIK it happened twice. Not very often.
lol this ^^
Why do you come to the rescue of Nadal Clarky? We know Nadal wins, but usually Fed is very close to winning, a couple points here and there - only Nadal seems to get completely overwhelmed and destroyed at least once or twice a year.
Hate Raonic if you want whatever. Noone likes someone who takes the game out of their hands, and I would bet Raonic has a greater chance of beating Nadal than Murray when he is on. We will just have to wait and see - I mean, Rosol even beat him.
