Why would it be Tour Bite? The only website that ranks Tour Bite highly is String Forum and we know that their polling is ridiculously flawed, ie pollsters can rank down strings they've never even played with, or rank up one string even though they've never played with the other strings in the poll. It's all absurdly skewed.

The string of the year poll at stringforum is a reputational poll.

Their surveys of strings is a year-long continuous process so that's the best source of string information in the world.

The reputational poll should only be used in conjunction with their database.

^^^And it's also terribly flawed and should only be used to see what is trending in a given category.

Well, everyone knows what my poly of the year is since it's simply my favorite, so let's see...poly of 2012? This wasn't a huge year for strings aside from 4G. Nonetheless, since I discovered it only this year (personally I mean), I going to say Discho Iontec. Does absolutely everything well. Could be better in tension stability, but it's just phenomenal everywhere else.

I also give a nod to BHB7, but it just wasn't for me although I know of many who like it.

It's probably also poly-centric, euro-centric and a little clay-centric but still stringforum is great.

And I suppose the RSI got it all skewed and flawed when they did their test, hey. Its only your view on it I suppose. Oh and Tennis Warehouse got it all wrong too.......?

Really enjoying this string at the moment, and a few other customers are getting on board.

Please do post a link to RSI and TW saying that tour bite is their poly of the year.

Oh that's right. You can't because all they did was rate it above average, and in the case of TW, super stiff.

With all due respect, unless you understand how the website works, you really don't understand what you're talking about. Stringforum is about as impartial as Karl Rove on Fox News. As I said above, do not look there for outright string information, look there for what's trending at a given time.

A good find for me this year has been Discho Iontec Black. It has been a very good all around poly and at a very good price point.

I keep one PD strung with it all summer and fall. We are still trying others but seem to keep going back to it.

Agree. I have never had more consistency, control and tension Maintenance out of a poly like this before.

And for best performance in a value-priced string...Discho Iontec.

I think of this more like the Oscars.

Blast is slightly stiffer than team, and team has longer playability and doesnt go dead as fast as blast and team also has better tension maintenance than blast. I use the rpm team its my favourite :)

RPM Blast is also one of the Top 5 selling strings in the US (in specialty shops).
Just goes to show: Sales figures are as accurate as reputation polls as quality/performance indicators.

Big Hitter Blue/Black/Silver get a lot of hype on these boards, but I never hear about from others or see people playing with them. I did like big hitter blue rough but it was pretty powerful and when the tension dropped a little bit is was just too much for me.

I had a chance to play with Luxilon 4G but I don't find it average. Am I stringing it at too high of a tension at 52lbs since I really don't understand how this string plays better than Ltec 4S, Signum Pro Poly Plasma, or Kirschbaum Pro Line Evolution.

Both at 50lb on PB10Mids. Both strings are awesome and I could play both interchangeably.

Iontec comes on top coz of price and easier to string! BHB7 is so sharp sometimes it feels like it's cutting through my fingers while stringing.

What are you looking for? I want control and tension maintenance. I have not used a better string for these things. I can generate my own spin.

Sppp did not last nearly as long.

If you check STRING FORUM based on TEST RESULTS rather than the POLLS (that is basically a popularity contest) you should find that these are the top rated polys based on actual performance (based on a sampling of 30 tests or more):

    MSV Co-Focus
    Yonex Poly Tour Pro 125
    Tecnifibre Black Code
    Kirschbaum Pro Line No. II
    Signum Pro Poly Plasma
    Prince Beast XP
    WeissCANNON Silverstring
    WeissCANNON Scorpion
    Signum Pro Hyperion

The results are subject to some change over time as more play tests are added to the results.

With all the hype surrounding 4G, I just didn't find it that great string in a full setup. I haven't had a chance to try 4G in a hybrid perhaps, in the spring, I will post my review. For tension maintenance and control, I prefer Ltec 4S and for power, I go with Pro Evolution.

4G is a lot better as a hybrid. I use it in the mains and cross with OGSM, and it plays incredibly well.

Also... I bought into all the hype of tour bite and to be honest I never want to play with it again. NEVER.

Big Hitter Black and Cyclone is SO much better!!!

For a great hybrid combo try BHB17 and T.Multifeel in the cross. Gosh it awesome!!

Luxilon 4G isn't that great, the fact it retains it's tension better than other Luxilon strings doesn't mean much, it's more comfortable than other Luxilon, but also the spin help is worthless, it isn't anything special to me, I'd take Luxilon Original and Fluoro over 4G, I still take the Yonex Poly Tour Spin over all of these Luxilon strings, I would also take Yonex Poly Tour HS over any Luxilon.

Soon I'll be moving to multi or gut/poly if it gets really cold - below 50F with winds I can't use full poly.

4G is not for everyone. I find it better if you generate your own spin and want control. It still actually does well for spin, but are there better options for that category? - yes.

Example, the Cylcone is a very nice string with good spin, but it is rather springy to me, and it dies a lot faster.

So it is just personal preference, many people will prefer the springiness of the cyclone, but for me, I love the very high control level of the 4g.

I hate spending $17 a string set..hate it. So trust me, I want to find something better that is cheaper.
