I have a set of Poly Tour Spin G and Hyper G (and pro line x) all in 1.25mm. I need to restring my Pure Strike 16/19 (project one 7). I really enjoyed PTSG in my old yonex Ai 98 but im not sure if it'll still work in the PS. I'm a 4.0 with semi Western forehand and mostly slice backhand. What do you guys recommend? I'm looking for tension maintenance, playability duration, and minimal string movement and notching.

not quite familiar with PTSG...is it shaped? I would think HyperG mains with proline X crosses at low 50s or high 40s would be good. HyperG is not that powerful but generates good spin so low tension would be ideal. If you really enjoyed PTSG, put that in mains with proline X crosses and give it a go. Personally, I’m not a fan of hyperG and its low poweredness...gets so tiring providing your own power all the time

It's shaped but not that extreme. 5 sided but it's rounded. What's the reason behind having the hybrid set up vs just a full bed of one?

ive found that round strings have good snapback action. However, I like shaped strings in mains for the bite on the ball. Therefore, by hybriding, you get the best of both worlds. I like to string cross 2 lbs lower since I believe it helps to promote snapback in mains

Poly Tour Spin G, like most other Yonex polys I've tried, holds its tension for an absurdly long amount of time. If you put PTSG in your pure strike around 53 pounds, I guarantee you it will last longer than Hyper G. I've also used Hyper G for a long time so I can vouch for how long it lasts.

Hyper-G holds tension really well. Especially the 16g.

im a fan of PTSG it is super stiff, very low powered and durable. Hyper G, to me, is a softer poly (much more power then PTSG, and doesnt last as long. Depends what you want in a string.
power = Hyper G
control = PTSG
I thought Hyper G suited the Pure Strike
as low weight of the Pure Stike, i felt, needed a bit of oomph.
PTSG, low power in light racket, would mean big swings and hard work generating power.

I've played with Hyper G and Poly Tour Spin (the blue one not G). Overall they were very similar.

Hyper G had marginally more control, more spin, but was pretty tough on the arm. Both were excellent on tension maintenance.

Ultimately I preferred Poly Tour Spin. More comfortable, still great spin and control, a little more power. But I can see why Hyper G is a popular string.
