Fixing to play 4 matches this weekend in 4.5 league then rest until June State Tournament. Believe Dallas and Memphis leagues start this weekend.

KY is finishing up our Adult leagues now (runs Jan-May).
Our 3.5 team is 10-1 and in 1st place by a slim margin.
We play the #2 team tomorrow (9-2)...whooo!
Districts are near the end of June.

Our Mixed leagues come next (Jun-July).
Districts in Early Sept.

Followed by our Combo leagues (mid Aug-Oct).
Districts in early Nov.

We also have a short Multi-level league in November (1-2 weekends).
& I think a state championship for that too.

And then it's Adult league 2008. Yeah baby!

Here in SC our first adult league match was in January and ends mid May. Our team is 9-0 and we play the second place team this weekend. If we win we will be set for States as long as we don't implode on ourselves.

Our mixed league and combo league is the same as Mark's. Mixed is June-July and Combo is Aug-Sept.

I'm in Hilton Head.

Good luck to you too Mark. Maybe I'll get to meet you at sectionals. Would be nice wouldn't it.

Played 4 matches over the weekend:
went 0-4
lost 3 matches 3-2 and one 4-1

The whole team needs to practice more, Captain included ;)

And what a match it was.
In chronologic order:
We lost #2 dubs quickly (4-, 1-)
We won #1 dubs just as quickly (-4, -1)
We won #1 singles (3rd set tb)
Now we get to my court, #3 dubs:
We break the server in game 1 ala Brad Gilbert.
We stay ahead with the break and go 6-4 in the first.
With an overblown sense of accomplishment I personally lose the first 3 games in set two. Sorry partner.
We dig it out with some signalled poaches that worked sweetly to 5-3.
They counter to 5-5.
We break the server again and my partner serves like a fiend to 40-0 and ends it with an ace. Sweet!

We go ahead 3-1 in courts and I'm sure there was a collective sigh of relief up in the observation deck.

We break out the Newcastles, Negro Modelos, and St. Pauli's and watch a great finish of the #2 singles which goes to 14-12 in the 3rd set tb. For us!

4-1 matchscore and a trip to Districts.
Yeah!
I love this game.

Lost a close one last night, 2-3. Most of my better and more experienced players were unavailable, and it stinks to lose to a team we could have beaten were it not for personnel issues.

I won No. 1 singles. My No. 3 doubles team dropped the first set but came back to win the third set tie-break.

Unfortunately, my experienced No. 1 doubles team faced a tough doubles pair, and my No. 2 doubles team lost to an inferior team in a match they could have won with more aggressive play.

That left it all in the hands of the No. 2 singles player, who is very solid and raced out to a 4-0 lead. Alas, the other player turned it around to win the first set in a tie-break, and then got a break in the second. The match ended in a straight-set loss 1 minute before it would have timed out (to our detriment) anyway.

This was definitely a match that I could have won for us with different combinations of the available players, though. It's early, so it is tough to tell who is stronger among my players. I'd field a different line-up if I had it to do over.

We are also just getting started here. My 3.0 team doesn't have our schedule yet, but I'm also playing up on a 3.5 team and our first match is Friday. I got an email from the captain today asking me to play #2 singles because she's short on people. GULP!!! I hope more people end up being available, 'cause I'll get my behind handed to me!

Good job Mark. We won our match too. We're 10-0 now with four matches left. As long as we don't implode on ourselves we have a trip to states awaiting us also.

Won my 3.0 match 6-0, 6-1. Won my 3.5 match 6-1, 6-2 and lost my 4.0 match 6-0, 6-2.

So I figure I will try again next week. Certainly a different experience at ea. level. I just wished I wouldn't have signed up to play 3.0 again. But I figured it would be my last year since the computers must have missed me last year.

I'm going to play my first ever men's spring league match this Thursday. It is 3.0 level, and I will be playing at the #1 singles spot. I also have one more winter mix match on friday (3-2 overall in mixed), because of a snow cancellation earlier in the season.

Lost a 3.5 doubles match 1-6, 3-6. I am actually pretty happy with how I played, especially with my returns. I think I only missed one, and that is *huge* improvement for me. I'm a 3.0 and this was a strong team, so I'm actually not ashamed by that result at all.

played my first 3.0 league match today. i double-faulted quite a bit in the first and lost it 1-6, picked up my serve in the second and was serving at 5-4 but couldn't hold and lost 5-7.

i dont think i did that badly considering i was tired from playing 4 and a half hours yesterday and having my racket strings pop to boot which forced me to play with a new racket (to be fair, i won a doubles set with that racket yesterday). but i am very dissatisfied with my double faults (like 1-2 a game) and some of my forehands. also i am disappointed in that i could not take advantage of his deceptively forceful second serve. he double-faulted maybe on average 0-1 a game and i shouldve put more pressure.

but i think hes definitely beatable and am anxious to play again when i have my regular racket (w/ all the lead tape and strings v. an old agassi radical from 92 with two year old topspin strings) and a little less mileage on my legs.

I'm a benchmark 3.0 playing in both 3.0 and 3.5 leagues...

3.0 Results:
Singles (W) 6-0, 6-0
Singles (W) 6-3, 6-0
Doubles (W) 6-1, 6-1

3.5 Results:
Doubles (L) 4-6, 1-6
Singles (W) 6-4, 4-6, 6-4
Singles (L) 3-6, 6-3, 1-6
Singles (L) 3-6, 4-6
Singles (W) 6-4, 6-3

I've been playing some strong competition in 3.5 singles, so I'm pleased with my results. The last win was especially big, as he's a very strong 3.5 player.

Also finished up this spring's local league mixed doubles in A2 (typically players rated 4.0 and 3.5):
(L) 1-6, 3-6
(W) 6-2, 6-1
(W) 6-4, 6-4
(W) 6-1, 4-6, 1-0
(W) 6-3, 6-1
(L) 4-6, 5-7

My 3.5 team is now 12-0. I played a couple of old guys today. They tried playing some mind games but we still won 6-2, 7-5. I let them get to me in the start of the second set but my partner shook me out of it and we took care of business.

My last 4.0 match is tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers for a win there to make my 4.0 season not as horrible as it has been.

lost to a pusher/dinker today, 2-6, 1-6. he got everything back that i hit pretty hard and i think i missed like 8 overheads in a row. i really need to practice that shot. its annoying to play a pusher but at the same time i cant say he beat me more that i beat myself cuz of inconsistencies. that said, my forehand did pretty well and i need to hit more down the line backhands.

Well I lost my 4.0 match. It went three sets and almost three hours. There were more deuces then I could count. I think every game went to deuce at least once. I played #1 doubles against a very strong 4.0 team so I kind of feel like it was a victory.
