Now we can all wait for the video of him hitting in the day light.

Nice serves Domond, props to you. How fast do you think your were serving last night? low 100s?

IMO it would have been easier to judge the speed of Domonds serve if he got filmed from behind him. none the less he has a good serve for his age.

    Good for my age, yes.
Good for my tennis history? Well, I'm 63, can't brush my teeth with my left hand without supporting the elbow, haven't jogged or run in 3 years. I guess that sorta showed....:)
I like to think I hit a few much faster serves after the vid. We hit some, played some halfcourt (simulating doubles because Alex was concerned I'd trip and fall over my feet)
Before the vids, we both hit about 10 serves total, me hitting 3-4 flat, the rest top/slice and twists. Warm nite, around 8:30PM, 70 degrees.

No need for explanation, excuses, anything. You manned up and made the video people asked for. We were all better 20 years ago!

i got a second round bye for wimbledon. i skipped the FO because i want to prepare for grass. i pretty much do everything better than the sampras, agassi, stefi graf, federer, and nadal combined. i can't put it on youtube because chuck norris forbids me from doing so

I do not think I should be worried. Maybe it's time for you to learn how to hit volleys... Oh, no, you do not need to learn physically optimal technique, because "technique changes" and "amateur players copy Federer's moves". Strange, because physics is always the same. Also human body has the same number of legs, hands and muscles.

I have never seen an amateur player who hits real forehands like Federer.

If you write an answer in a foreign language, it's quite common that you do mistakes. I write my English comments without autodictionary. If you want to show me your amazing knowledge, we can continue our discussion in my native language, would be interesting to see your results. Choć może nie, w końcu czego można się spodziewać po dyletancie, z którego płytkie podejście do jakiejkolwiek wiedzy wypływa jak woda z Niagary.

You can't be a good coach.

And here we have one of Al's technically flawless running backhands.

Al, as a member of the tennis community, I would like to thank you for advancing our sport in ways unimaginable even a few short years ago.

I for one, was wholly impressed with this display. Floored actually. As I was with your superior technique and shot making skills against the rank beginner in another one of your videos. Btw, love the fist pumps.

Perhaps in the next video, you could showcase your drop shot skills against Stephen Hawking, or have Stevie Wonder return a few serves.

    Also - I officially adjust the rating to 3.5 - 4.0

Lee was a bit harsh with the 3.0, but not too far off.

I have to apologize to fellow TWers, for mistakenly giving the 4.0-5.0 initially..... after further examination... even though all the videos were edited, there were still tell-tale signs that he'd have trouble with battle tested 4.0s..

I think sennoc will have even competition at 3.5 initially, then can be a solid 4.0 after gaining some match experience.

so we've seen LeeD hit a few serves and hobble a little bit on the court and his glorious yoda/surfer bum style.

can we get dozu or sennoc on video hitting with other posters?

sennoc and dozu - where are you guys located and are you up for a hit?

    tennismonkey you *******.

I have a long one in my signature. If sennoc can post something that long, unedited (I bet $5 he never will, just like peoplespeace chickened twice already), you will see that the 3.5-4.0 rating is not far off...

I am always up for a hit - matter of fact have hit with a small handful of fellow TTers.

But I only go on the court with solid people, which sennoc has not demonstrated as one.... so far he's shown himself as delusional (perhaps from smoking something), technically incorrect (yes, incorrect, just from his comments about the pros), and generally unsociable, from how he gets into frustration and foul language mode so easily.....

I think once he post an unedited video of meaningful length, we can probably have some score guestimation along the lines of him winning about 1-2 games per set from me.... we can even let the collective wisdom of TW to decide that via a poll.

Based on his comments about only competing against himself and all that BS,
I assume he's pretty hopeless in competitive situations.

He'd get double bageled by worse players than you.

WOW... !!!! wow!!!!! I missed it all! damm-IT I missed it. LOL. :)

LeeD glad to see your face. And whats with all the asian guys in all these vids on TT my god. A whole lot of asian peeps on TT. Wonder what that says about us? hmmm.....

And to SENNOC another Wow... You are the new GAPOAT. Greatest Amateur Poster Of All Time of TT. I do suggest you play matches though because that's when you find more flaws in technique. Why do you not like to compete? Is it because you lose a lot? I actually like matches as well as practice because I get to see what my weaknesses are so I can practice them. Currently I am trying to get consistent with a down the line backhand forcing shot or winner. I found that in matches I was being too predictable going cross court on the BH, while on my FH I can change direction easily on weaker balls and end it at will. I realized if I added a DTL BH drive to my match play it keeps the opponent more on their toes, as I can run around my BH hit inside out FH or inside in FH dtl, or drive the BH dtl or crosscourt. That one stroke gives me many more options in point construction, and footwork options to conserve energy. So play matches as that will hone your technique.

Also even when I was a kid on my college team the difference between me and the #1 player (who went to the ATP and broke the top 100) was a HUGE gulf. I was lucky to get a game. He hit it that hard and that accurate. My technique could not help me. It was mad scramble... mad scramble... repeat till I missed. No thought of form as it was survival. It is good to try to focus on the mechanics of tennis but the better players just hit the ball much better. It is no comparison. The pros do hit differently than us. It's another game. Our tennis is not the same tennis they are playing. It's like we are in the Matrix and they can step out of it and slow down time or something.

gee arche3 where the f were you.... could have been a different experience with you around.

yeah i was pondering the same thing - we asians must have self exposure complex.

and didn't I say your bh was screwed up.... to answer Raid's question, I am the gravity/human racket/swing flaw officer as I spotted arche3's BH as his weakness from 1 (I repeat, only 1) stroke in his wall video.

but on a serious note - arche3 is the type of 'solid people' I'd love to hit with, and hopefully in the near future.

My BH sucks... LOL. :) Against average club guys its fine. Against a real player it just goes all bonkers and defensive. I can say I am consistent with the sucky BH at least. I don't miss with it. But all that means is I can consistently get it into the strike zone of the other guy all the time! Which forces me to run around it... which makes me tired more. Not pretty. Hence my working on improving the BH this spring and summer.

Sooo... about Sennoc. He seems really angry about it all. the whole 2 months thing is weird too. What happens in 2 months where he will show us all?

Ha, great post. Same here. I hit with a top D-1 player and my form goes out the window, its about survival! And the top D-1 player says when he ventured into the pros, the top 200 guys played a game he didn't even recognize.

The amount of money I would pay to see sennoc volley against Nadal is pretty large.

No doubt my volleys are better than yours in every respect.
And yet, technique evolves. Watch youtube videos of people playing tennis in the 20's, compare that to the technique of today and you will notice a huge difference despite humans being the same. And it's not just because of changing racket technology, boxing and sprinting orthodoxy has changed almost as much.
Of course not. But look around you at the public courts, you will see people mimicking Fed's backhand... Nadal's forehand... to their own detriment.

I wonder how much value there is for people still learning foreign language... before long we'll have all this stuff audio-lized (if not already), and we can all speak to each other regardless what the native ones are.

i don't know, volley is all about really fast footwork and reaction time. i have seen nadal retrieved 100 mph down the line winners with a running forehand nadal will definitely loss on this one. we need a vegas poll pretty fast.

Had to find these videos I kept seeing being referred to. Your strokes look good. 4.0? Possibly a weak 4.5 if your mobility isn't a huge issue. Hard to tell with videos like these but assuming you started late and were never a competitive tournament player, not bad at all.

sennoc, for your own benefit and the viewing pleasure of the fellow TWers.

7pm EDT today (not sure what Polish time is), Fed vs. Nadal

Here is the set up... put the match on TV, you stand in front of the TV with a racket on, camera behind you..... when Nadal is on the near side and rushes the net, I'd like to see you hit a 'virtual' volley against Fed's passing shot.... if you can show that you are close to even put your racket on the pass (no need to show text book form), I will categorize you as a 'solid people', and will adjust my rating back to 4.0-5.0
