Trouble with these boards is, anyone can say anything they like to good players, and nothing happens to them. ON the court in person, none of them would be even talking to you! Only a 6.0 player can win that kind of money. I hit with a 6.0 norcal open player day before yesterday, and the guy can hit winners anytime he wants to, virtually. Yet, he fed me a lot of shots, and put up with my own winners without too much *****ing. The truth was, he was not picking up the low balls and his serve was too slow. When I pointed this out, he agreed and adjusted. You don't become a top player without realizing what you are doing badly, quickly.

Toni, Lets just pretend you are 18 years old right now, and just got admitted to Stanford. and you are trying to make the team. Do you think you can make the top 6. Meaning do you think you can take out guys like Greg Hirschman or Denis Lin who are playing at that position. I know you played Alex fairly close but seem like you are not at the same level as him.. This is not an insult, by the way. Alex is IMG academy product and was once thinking of going Pro.

And as the Stanford team stands this year, where would you put yourself in the lineup, hypothetically. :)

Well, obviously Alex is a tremendous player. He has got serious weapons that can hold up at even the highest levels. If he is on he can beat about anyone, period. Problem is he has been very streaky, and last year Im not sure what was going on that caused the losses. He just needs to play a little more meat and potatoes instead of try to win every point, in my opinion. I can beat him any given day but he is obviously the better man for sure. Klahn is great too. These guys can at least get to a challenger level if they improve a little more and want to pursue that route.

I would have a good shot to play #3 for this years stanford team but it would be a fight of course with a couple. Ive been a late bloomer because I did not have good training and access to what I needed until college and after, and Im positive I could have been playing the way I am now at 18 years, so thats too bad, but at the same time I still enjoy playing and hopefully will continue to improve and make up for lost time.:)

Almost every one gives advice based off of their personal experience and what worked for them. You run into a few people that want to adhere to accepted methods and they fail to understand that from a recreational standpoint, if you approach tennis with that kind of rigidity you'll end up stuck at 3.5 forever.

I have never had a problem with your advice but more so the delivery. It seems like you take every opportunity possible to interject some former glory or current accolade. "You don't need to be huge to serve big, I'm 5'10 and serve 120MPH! Back in my prime....of course I was only serving big when I wasn't doing pro surfing.....and throwing the football a quarter mile with my small frame....." That's why I called you Uncle Rico. I'd want to see you hit just to see if the legend is true.

Agree about Alex. but i think he is playing much better this year. There is something about that Youtek Prestige racket he has switched to . Looks to me like he is hitting the ball with more pace and consistancy. Only time will tell, we will see how he is playing once the season starts.

and i actually put you at #4 spot behind Klahn, Clayton and Thacher. but you may feel like you can take Thacher. We will never know unless he plays you in some tournament......:)

    I'd put him at #3-6.
Latter (sic) is spelled ladder. I fell 20' from the feet down. Knocked me out for an hour, during which I was talking and don't remember what I said to anyone. Don't remember falling past the first foot or so. $12,000 hospital bill. I finished that job the next day, off the same height.
Tw does not allow you to sell pro frames, anymore, due to folks selling so many of them, as you know. Haven't you sold 70 frames here and at Joes? That was the first time I was able to hit for more than 1/2hr without quitting since Aug. Had to run around all my bh, as that side hurts more.

Thanks! Yeah Thatcher is very good though. Theyre going to have a great team again this year. When youre that deep there often isnt clear cut positions. On any given day their 6, someone like Hirshman who doesnt look like much but plays a smart and frustrating game, could give Alex and Brad a close one.

I agree the Youtek prestige is powerful, I liked it alot for serves and volleys. Just didnt feel totally comfortable hitting groundstrokes or returns with it against good players, but I never give a racquet more than half an hour to an hour because I hate missing shots I know I should make.

Tony, didn't you play Thacher once? I know you played Clayton and had a tight 3 set match, but I think I remember you saying something about playing Thacher also. How'd that match go (if it happened)?

Tell me about it! I've been fooling around with some Asian BLX 95's and while there are some very cool things about them for my game it's SO hard to 'dig in' and suffer the (inevitable?) misses that come w/ a transition from one frame to the next. Best, BHBH

There is so many Youtek prestiges on this team due to connections with HEAD racket sports and Stanford tennis. Also they are supplied by NIKE for their shoes and clothing. They get these nice brand new Nike shoes for free. Klahn and Thacher are wearing Nike 2K10 breath free in this pic. Kind of odd, that Klahn doesn't have a Head stencil on his racket ???

thanks for correcting my spelling and for counting my transactions. 70 -- I doubt, 30-40, maybe...

Back to your fall: on the string forum you did say a 30' laDDer, and you posted it YESTERDAY!
Some things do not add up -- maybe you should check again what you posted at the other forum? Must have been a hard fall there... Although, your posts did not make much sense before the claimed fall either...

BTW, no one asked you WHY you posted on the other forum. I have seen the TGK frames being listed and sold on this forum lately...

I have agreed to play Drak or Sup, and post unedited video of the match on TW.

I will also agree to play Topaz using my broom and post the unedited video on TW.

    Hell no.

As a guy who has hit with Geoff and BHBH multiple times, and seen them hit with each other, I can tell you that it is a pretty cool thing. They both know each other's games so well that one knows what the other's shot is going to do before he hits it, and they both have extremely well rounded games with no one thing standing out more than any other. So when they drill, they just hit and hit and hit and never miss, rallies over 50 shots are common, and I have seen them hit over 100.

They both have great court sense, and awareness and know what they can and can not do from a given position.

I have never hit singles or played groundstroke games against BHBH, only Geoff, but certainly hope to in the future.

I have probably met and hit with close to 50 boardmembers, and will gladly meet up with and hit with anyone who is in my area, or in the area of a tournament I am playing as long as it is during the outdoor season, so that I don't have to pay for court time.

A couple of people mentioned VSBabolat. I have hit with him several times, and he is an excellent player. Super clean ballstriker.

Oh, and yes, Joeldali is just as cool in real life as he is on the boards.

Between this and the other forums you've sold about 70 pro frames, and that's more than a lot of dealers.. That makes you a dealer. Why are you selling so many pro frames anyway? Profit and mark up. The ladder was a 28', and the fall was from my head at 26' from the ground, so 20' and 30' are not quite right. I'd like to see you fall from that height and gather the courage to go back to work the next day and finish the job. Guys like you have ruined the ability for all of us to sell our pro stock on this forum. Tw got heat from the manufacturers, otherwise, why else stop us from selling our pro stock here? No other reason to stop us, as they are not selling pro stock here. It was a valuable service that's now gone. Thanks to some of us abusing that service. What kind of a dumb asss would question whether I fell off a ladder or not, anyway? Psychotic.

    Thanks Jolly

It is always fun to put a face with a name with a TW screen name! I have met a few posters, not as many as Jolly though, through my travels for work. It has always been a pleasure to get to mix pleasure with business.

Besides the documented hitting with Jolly and BHBH (best e-mail I ever sent!), I have had the pleasure of hitting with Drak, Panterka, Vincescourt and MDQM (Drak is that right?). I can attest that all 3 are outstanding players in their own right. Poor Drak was feeling really under the weather on my last vist to south FL but still toughened it out so I could get some tennis in. Drak has a huge FH and serve! I close my eyes, swing and pray (blind squirrel finding a nut theory) when I hit with him. Drak was even so kind to let me string on his new Star 4.

Bottom line is my in person encounters with TW posters has always been memorable.

Don't know anything about Sup, but I recall Dennistennis stating you guys were coming down to play me earlier this year (Spring).

    You think you could win??

always a pleasure to meet up with you. Great stuff, as well as trying to get the ball past you, or an unforced error. Look forward to meeting up and hitting with you this year. Hopefully, I won't be too busy stringing at the delray and bmw sunrise tourneys.

I am just getting to the point of you admitting the lies...
First, lets count how many frames I have sold, if you're right (70 or more), I will buy your H22s for a $1000 a piece, otherwise, you send them to me for free? Can you sign up for that since it appears you're completely sure in what you're saying? The history is here and we can easily track it....

Next, on one forym you said a 30' ladder, and that your elbow is shot, now, you claim you played tennis... You even say on the SF that you're selling these "rare" matched (they are not rare actually) because you're done playing...

And then, your psycho brain tells you to change the subject and start telling me that I am the reason why TW does not allow us to sell the Pro stock frames... Get checked man, you're dangerous for people around you! You're a lunatic free on the streets, that cannot connect simple thoughts. You try to threaten with some legal crap the people on the tennis boards, you show us your enormously ugly toes here, get help!

Well, I beat a 6.5 using only one arm and only a Continental grip.

By the way, I use Continental on all shots, have a one-handed backhand, it was doubles, and I had a 6.5 partner.

There's no point to this, but there's no point to a lot of things.

Dennis asked if you were willing to play a best 2 of 3 set match against me with him watching, and you dodged the question by saying "I live there, where else would I be?"

So... Let's spell this out in black and white, and have a yes or no answer from you.

If I come to Ft. Lauderdale, do you agree to play me in a best 2 of 3 tiebreak sets where I will post unedited video of the match in a thread, along with the scoreline, and quote everything you have said about my level of play, and your level of play?

I have no idea, I haven't played with the broom in a couple of years, but I am pretty handy with it, and I personally would have a heck of a lot of fun playing the match, and I am absolutely certain that the TW posters would enjoy seeing it.

If I win, I win, if I lose, I lose.

If I lose, and fail to win at least four games, I will unabashedly admit that I am not good enough of a tennis player to be able to put up a competitive scoreline against a Mid Atlantic woman 3.5.

I said it once, and I'll say it again.....you guys are free to come down, and I'm more than willing to play anyone (this includes YOU). If you wish to spend your money to fly down to come play me, and "video it",,,,,, be my quest. if you want to have a beer after, I'm willing. If not, then you are free to jump off the tennis court with your camera and fly back to LI with dennis and joel.

the outcome of the match, would not prove that you are a 5.5 or 6.0 or whatever. as for you needing to quote anything I have said about your level of play, you don't need to because I'll do it myself. here you go:

You are not, contrary to what you posted and have led other posters to believe a A 5.5-6.0 HIGHLY NATIONALLY RANKED OPEN LEVEL PLAYER.

I'll spell it out for you....

If you can't beat 6.0's, then you are not a 6.0.
If you can't beat 5.5's, then you are not a 5.5.
If you can't beat 5.0s, then you are not a 5.0.
    etc,
    etc,
    etc.

I don't care what you self rated at, or what 10 year olds you beat in an open tourney. from when I stated my opinion of your level of play, you were at best a 3.5. If you have improved since then, GREAT! GOOD FOR YOU! HOPE YOU ARE INJURY FREE NEXT YEAR.

Again, the outcome of *OUR* match, would not change any of this, or my opinion of your level of play.

    PS:

If you want to bring your broomstick, I'm more than willing to set you up with a bunch of 3.0's and 3.5's that will be more than happy to give you a nice beating on the court so you could record that too.

Wow! this thread is really bringing the dark side of TTs posters! I also have played with a few posters from here and it has always been a very nice experience, if I am allowed to give one advice it would be that if you are planning to meet someone from here to hit just do it for the fun of it and not to prove anything to anybody. Screw hitting, there are posters I'd pay to see face off in a steel cage.

by the way, as per the thread title, you are required to "SEE" the entire match. Now you would have to be a masochist to watch the first of the above. And you'd first have to give them lessons on how to hold a racket, and basic rules like -- the ball has to go across the net, not the racket.
