When I tried to feel the pressure. My bh went to sh*t. Dozu is stupid. I just grab the racket and hit the ball. He is trying to measure grip pressure.

I don't see his reasoning in waiting dor my bh video before he posts one. I admit his is better. Get on with it dozu and lost away.

Well towards the thumb base. Where it wraps. Eastern grip not western. Thumb pad on 7. Hand heel pad on 8. So they form a sort of triangle behind the ball.

Apparently dozu plays ex atp pros all day. Gets 115 mph serves he slices down and rushes the net. He is basically the nj patrick rafter.

Just wondering, because I"m so goofy, I cannot hit a topspin backhand where I want to, using my softy shots, but can SMOKE a real Open level topspin backhand against almost any ball, including against the local Open level winning Brother's shots.
Seems if I need to reign in my backhands, I should just slice...which usually goes deep, skids hard one side or the other (depending on strikepoint height), and goes in more often than my consistency allows.
Obviously, control is a real issue in my game.

The instructions seem to contradict the images.

"Base of pinky finger firmly against the back bevel (bevel #7) ."

^^^ this seems to be impossible to do. And if it is possible, that would be an extreme hammer grip, which is definitely not what is being pictured.

The image displayed is a pistol grip, and definitely more of one that Federer uses. I figure this based on the bottom knife edge of the hand. Fed's is close to parallel with the buttcap, while in the picture there's a big slant.

For grip recommendations, simply look at the actual grips Federer, etc., uses (and it's not the grip shown on this site).

Btw, most instructional images of an eastern grip are significant pistol grips, and are different from grips the pros actually use. (Google it and compare them to actual pro grips).

What's working for me lately.... Pad of thumb directly behind face of racket, weak SW backhand grip, barely low to high swing, for driving 1hbh topspin backhand.

I am puzzled by peoples reluctance to show stuff; on a comparable sized golf site, there is a sub forum just for member's swing videos (not including videos posted in other sub forums), and the count is close to 1000.

here, the number maybe 1/10 of that count.... which is very low considering tennis has MORE to show.

lots of excuses, nothing to show.

    Yearly income, $6,720.
Live within 20 miles of SanFrancisco, like sky high living expenses.
Start out without a camera or cell phone of any kind, nor computer nor TV.
Drive a 1979, yes 1979 Ford Econoline Van, and slept in it for two years.
    What's YOUR excuse?

Seems to me that some people on here prefer to theorize upon their strokes rather than physically practice them. I personally find it more enjoyable to practice hitting than trying to verbalize the stroke for all to try and imagine.

However, that may be just me, and I feel that I may be in the minority on these boards.

the 2 sports are so similar in so many ways, yet in 1 people are willing to demonstrate, in the other just lots of 'verbalizing'...

I think the ego is the culprit - the fear of that once shown, all doubts are removed lol.

especially tennis is such a mano o mano thing, while in golf you are competing against the course.

I think that is a more true statement in relation to the pro's, because of the mental psyching and gamesmanship that occurs, but at my level I find that, in the end, I will almost always determine the outcome of the match regardless of what the other person does. This is me putting my plan into action.

If I execute, I will usually win. If not, I may lose.

It comes down to belief. There are many players out there who do not believe they will make the shot, and so hit it half heartedly. This will surely cause you to miss. Practicing the way you play is essential, giving you the belief to make the shot regularly.

Here are some clips of my BH. Any tips?

I think I hit it slightly different in the clip w/the wood racquet.
Currently trying to incorporate a few minor changes, but I won't say
what they are until I make another video.

I hit a little differently with the wood racquet because it has so much less
power and I had to open the face a bit more + smaller sweetspot.

    wood racquet

So show a video you loser. The very first post I made on this forum 3 years ago was a video of me hitting a few months after picking up tennis again after 20 plus years off. I posted a video when i was rusty. Just started playing again. Not at my best. Asking for some help getting back to form. Your the one afraid to post a video unless other people do. What are you a little girl?
    You have nothing to offer.
What you just posted above describes yourself perfectly. Show us. Or shut up.
Put up or **** up. Dont say unless I do so. I have already posted a video. Years ago. No reason to wait for a new video from me. You don't have the balls. Read all your posts again. All excuses about how you can't show your video and how great your secret is. In fact your first post in this thread was you will show your video only AFRER someone else did so from thread we determined who will never post his video bh. So your all safe from beimg exposed as a hack. Fraud.

My video or lack of video shoyld have nothing to do with your own instructional video. I have a video up already here. One of my very first posts on ttw.

I have no qualms about posting another one. But I won't let a hack like you dictate when I do so

I can tell you as soon as I can I will post another video. I want to in fact. But I am not some egomaniac in love with my own tennis like you. I don't need to video myself all the time.

If you post your video it will certainly influence me to post another video of my own. If only to make yours look inferior.

Your a girl afraid to put up or shut up like I've stated. Fraud!

thanks - looking good, and much better than arche3's bh.

I'd prefer more aggressive 'supination' (well calling it supination for now as I don't want to give the secret out yet), to put more spin on the ball, as well as getting out of a jam when a high ball gets on top of me.

limited to just verbiage for now.... my 48 hour offer to arche3 is standing.

I snuck into luvdozu's trailer (in a trailer park, not movie set) and
got a hold of his secret "Breaking Bad Backhands" notes.
I don't want to reveal it before he's ready to air it on TW TV.

More along the lines of incorporating things than actually changing.
I've been mostly hitting slices for the last couple years.

Some of it footwork things, takeback (higher), a few other minor
things and also some serve return stuff.

lol ..... my favorite show.... EVER! (the way Jesse Pinkman says it)

anyway - slices are totally legit.. think Graf or Vinci... but, both ladies hit over the ball for passing shots, so it's still necessary to develop the drive.

Okay. Reveal your luvdozu Meth(od) backhand video already.

On clay, it seems like if you have enough time, hitting topspin is better -- especially on returns in doubles.
The slices just don't stay low enough or skid enough on red clay.

I may have to send Marco & Leonel Salamanca to Queens to get arche3 to film his bh now.

speaking of BB - last year I went to albu-turkey (how my kids called it) and played at Jerry Cline Tennis Center.... nice town, perfect state for a motorcycle.

    1hbh....
    Not bad.
You lift as you release, so your ball is never driven with pace, but rather light topspin, high net clearance, and not much speed. Good for rallyballs.
Stay down on the front foot if you want drive.

Great day of tennis today! I come here and see dozu is still trolling me. Idiot.

I don't want to see your bh anymore. I have determined after extensive discussion with one of the top usta high performance coaches that you do not know what the *** your talking about.

Let's see your BH. Stop making excuses and conditions. (e.g. only
    if arche3 posts his.)

People often think the internet provides a wall that they can hide behind,
but in reality, that wall is translucent, and often very revealing.

My BH is so sweet right now. Someone asked me yesterday if I was on a break from the ATP . I had a video crew with me from tennis channel they were doing a show on guys when hit ATP bhs.

If you bring me a pizza I'll post the video. That's my condition. It is a very sweet show too. Pat Mac was interviewing me.

    laugh away jonny -

you are looking at someone who -

    1) lost a bet and didn't pay up;
    2) backed out on the initial duel time and location;
    3) didn't show up on the agreed duel time and location.

such person, in the old days, would have been driven out of town.
