I uncapped this prestige (microgel mp) and my previous prestiges (flexpoints mp). I believe it is only possible with mp and i don't think the model of the grommet as long as it is for radical mp. I used the youtek radical mp grommets (shown) but I have also used radical grommets varying from liquid metal to youtek.

for those considering uncapping their prestiges, it takes some effort with a hairdryer to install these grommets. You want to stretch the grommet evenly and not with a lot of force because you could tear it apart. Lastly, remember to widen the holes for tieoffs before stringing.

    Pros - easier time stringing
    slightly less weight
    slightly faster swing

cons - no full racquet protection

It's difficult to understand why you would want to uncap it.

Those cap grommets / bumperguard add a noticeable amount of weight to the racquet, affects how the racquet swings, as well as contributing towards stability and plow.

I haven't weighed the cap grommets on the MP, but based on the BLX 6.1 (where the bumper guard alone weighs 10.5g) stripping 20g+ of weight from from the hoop of the Prestige MP is just going to castrate and ruin the stability, SW and balance of the racquet.

This is a little like ketchup on your foie gras. It's like sending Jenna Jameson for a reduction mammoplasty. People on this board have been clamoring for years to cap every racquet imaginable so it would be Prestige-like.

ok, this warrants unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. At least a game, maybe even a set. On a second note, OP did that to two rackets? No tennis for him for a week.

Good if you like the feel of the frame but want to decrease the SW 20+ points.

The problem is that it is a prestige, so the SW is not even that high in the first place.

    Pros: none
Cons: you just made the racket more wimpy.

If you can't handle a Prestige, go buy a Prince.

Well, everyone seems to be against it so I'll encourage the OP a little. lol This at least allows some more room for customization. I think lead tape could be added to 3 and 9 which will add stability and distribute the weight a little differently than if the cap grommet were on.

The ball makes a beautiful sound off a normal prestige, so I wonder whether this ruins this aspect?
