Preventing foot pain in Adidas Feather III's

I have recently bought a pair of the afformentioned shoe and am experiencing pain not only in my arches, but also on the top of my foot. The arch issue can probably be solved by getting used to the shoe or a pair of insoles; so thats all good. What's really bugging me however is the pain on top of my foot which I suspect to be caused by the thin tongue; through which I can feel the lacing apparatus. So I'm in need of some ideas addressing how to cushion the space between my big toe bone, and the lacing apparatus.

Also, let me know if these ideas may work: taping my foot, thicker/double socks, wearing foot sleeves.

I should mention that I do not have Plantar Fasciitis.

Thanks

Change the lacing pattern to remove pressure where you don't like it. For example, here's Dani Alves' way of lacing his football cleats. Not handegg dammit.

Skip the pair of holes where it's applying too much pressure on your foot. I have had to do that with one of my shoes.

Thanks guys, I changed the lacing but to no effect. Then I started cushioning the region with KT Tape along first with normal lacing and then with changed lacing. Will stick to the combination of tape and changed lacing as it felt the best. Its a shame though because I really wanted to like the shoe as a wear-and-go but I suppose not.

Tried two socks today without the tape. It seems that the cage over the toe is the cause of the discomfort. Not entirely sure what I'll be doing on a day to day basis to make these shoes wearable and playable, but it'll probably involve tape so as to protect the top of the foot right above the toes.

Maybe they are not the shoes for you.

I don't have such problems, but I buy a size and a half bigger than my normal running shoes and use two pairs of socks. Never had problem with toe-jamming or too low toebox.

If a shoe is causing me pain, I think I would probably just get a different shoe. There are ao many variants out there surely there's one that's pain free for you. Best of luck.

Based on his description, it hurts on the 3rd/4th eyelet from the front.

Thats right on the money, played in em again today with Nike Elite socks and had various tapes on standby. 3M self-adhering bandage tape seems to work best when wrapped to 1/4 inch thickness, best thing is its reusable. I would play in my Vapors, or Barricades, but I'm too stubborn and petulant to be defeated by uncomfortable shoes.

Rising to the challenge is always good, but only up to a certain point.
Eventually you will realize that it is better to stop throwing good money after bad,
unless you have an un-diagnosed OCD.

Tried something new, seeing as how the shoe has sort of a spacious forefoot region, I experimented by wearing a medium wrist band around the area over socks. No pain apart from the dreadful arch support, which may be contributed to seeing as how theres a bit of a difference in foot ride with a wrist band creating un-uniform contact with the insole.

Now that you seem to have solve your shoe problem,
here's a question.

Would you buy this shoes again?

I have a similar thing with the feather 2's. I dunno if I would say it's painful, but after wearing them for a bit the lateral arch on my right foot starts to bother me. Maybe it's just something with the feather line. Never had the problem with barricades, but I also went up a size to wear those.

Are these the Feathers w/Climacool? Insoles with holes? Zero cushioning. Uppers so tight they mold to your foot. Circles instead of a herringbone pattern? Still own two pair.

I would pay $30 and sell it to you for $39.
LOL...

Did you not specially ordered these shoes customized to your requirements?
What are you complaining about?
Not the same shoe. My Feather Climacool shoe is 8-10 yrs old. Feather III is from last year. Wore them on clay, cushioning was unimportant.

Sorry for any confusion. I was referring to the adizero feather 2's. Mine are the cc version.

I just did something similar for the last two weeks for Nike Lunars 1.5 (only for my right shoe); the previous version 1.0 didn't have this problem.
Basically what I do is insert one large adhering bandage around (and to the side) of my big toe into my sock (and even re-use said bandage).

It could be that the uppers in the new model were either stiffer or have given in after a couple of hits...Anyhow I'll try again without a bandage.

Medium wide wristband might do even better.

I have not tried the III's but have worn both the original feather II's and the II cc models. For me they just are not comfortable shoes. After market insoles help, but still not so great Buy yourself a pair of Yonex and thank me later.

Feather II are not bad if you wear them on clay. Thank goodness they are discontinued.
