From what Ive heard from Prince at the end of Sharapova's contract she will switch to Yonex supposedly to the biggest women's racquet contract.

Prince right now is also "talking" to a few top 20 players on both the ATP and WTA tour.

Dude, maybe he doesnt have a source. He said he heard that, not that he knows. It's just a rumor, and I'm pretty sure he's just wondering if others have heard that too.

And I have not heard that. It would be weird if she switched though, she's been using Prince all her life.

I won't be surprised if it's really true. She's a shrewd business woman. Her loyalty lies with the biggest wallet.

Good point and I'm not criticizing her per se. It's only in reply to the statement that she has been with Prince all her life ...

it'd be different if she used the same racquet all her life, like roger, but since she often switches racquet, even if all from the same company, im not that surprised.

my only source is a prince rep. they said that she will go with whoever is paying her the most and its yonex. she doesnt care about the whole loyalty thing. i hope she stays with prince but with yonex its all about marketing. and theyre grabbing the hottest women's players.

ouch... what will happen to prince racquets? all the well-known players are all with wilson and babolat (federer, nadal, roddick, davenport, clijsters, henin). prince and head and yonex is taking a back seat. now yonex will have sharapova.

they still have coria, davydenko, and ferrer..oh the household names they are ;)

yeahh, they are going to be in a bind, too bad they dont have a recent product like a POG that current players are estatic over.

prince will try to keep her and counter the same pay as yonex but yonex is aiming for the biggest contract ever for her supposedly. but since prince is losing her i know theyre talking to multiple top 20 players on both the men and women's side.

let her go, not like anyone likes the 03 white.

At least their releasing a new James Blake frame, if not for that don't know if anyone would use prince raqceuts again

Im not surprised Maria is going for more money. Her game is not based on finesse (to put it nicely) so what does she care, she can bash it with just about anything. Not like she can volley and needs to worry about losing touch.

i dont think changing rackets would effect most of these WTA players like it would the men. maybe a mauresmo or henin-hardenne but the rest of them just swing away from the baseline anyway with two handed backhands. just give them any old OS racket and they would be fine...

I love my Yonex RDX's and my RDS001... Yonex would be even hotter if they had Sharapova! She's well known in the US and can tote the sales of the hot Yonex racquets! Yay!

Yeah for Maria, it's 100% about the money. Some people are like 80% or 90% but Maria Sharapova is as mercenary as it gets.

It'd be funny if James Blake reverted to Dunlop. Then Prince would have no one. It seems that Prince isn't really making many good racquets these days anymore (IMO) as it seems the whole More line flopped and it seems their only good stick these days is the O3 Tour.

I dont blame them, with all her antics on court and her shriek and her father coaching her from the sideline, any wonder they want to get rid of her.

There is no definitive evidence or link of a pending Yonex contract with Sharapova. She's used Prince racquets ever since she was seven. It is analagous to Federer switching to Babolat, or Hingis switching to Head at this point. If Sharapova, indeed, signs a more lucrative deal with Yonex, I am curious to know how much, seeing as she already earns $20 million in endorsements from Land Rover, Tag Heuer, Motorola, Canon, Speedminton, Nike, Prince, Parlux fragrances, and Honda (Japan).

I agree with mileslong. At their level of competency, they have the confidence to play with any racqet with similar specs and still win the match.

Sharapova with the RDS 003 with a specially designed deep red Nike outfit isn't a bad marketing idea (now if she used the RDS 001 MP, neon yellow can actually become an accepted norm  ).

if she did have a contract pending with yonex, then how much would it be worth? I have a feeling she's gonna stay with Prince all the way

Sharapova isn't going to go to Yonex. She's currently having some of her best results yet with a Prince racquet. I don't think she's hurting for money enough to care enough about it to risk hurting her game.

this thread is made in July 06~~~ this is old news man. Sharapova is with Prince FOREVER~!!

Altho i rather have her in Yonex. Americans only know of Wilson, Head, and Prince... racquets from Dunlop and Yonex really have a back seat in this country.
