Prince racquet grip shape feels different than babolat

Hello all,

My first racquet was a Babolat Pure drive team (2015) and i switched to prince textreme tour 310 a few years back. i love the racquet on my forehand and serve but my OHBH never felt consistent since i cant get a good grip on my racquet . Both the racquets have a 4 3/8 grip size on paper but i felt far more stable holding my OHBH on my pure drive team . MY OHBH is a bit different and i hold my index knuckle on bevel 8 and not the conventional bevel 1. this feel comfortable for me in the babolat but on the prince i tend to move my palm around a bit while hitting giving me inconsistent hits a lot.

What do u think is the reason for this ? is this a genuine concern ? i shifted away from babolat since it was too stiff and i dont want to return no matter how well the grip fills my palm. what are racquets similar to babolat on grip size. i still want to continue hitting my OHBH from bevel 8 . dont want to change my game

Yonex and Babolat run one size larger than the other brands. Might try measuring the grip sizes on your racquets first.

The bare pallet itself underneath the base grip is bigger. You'll need to match them (i.e. add a heatshrink sleeve) or get another racquet with the right grip size.

The grip shapes are also slightly different. Princes are very round, like a perfect octagon, while Babolats are slightly more elongated and rectangular.

There was a whole podcast on this, and Troy took out some calipers and measured the width & height of the bare pallets:

Also, it’s a bit of a misconception that Yonex sizes run larger. What they have is a larger “pallet” (for lack of a better term), but that is offset by a thinner base grip (~1.4mm).

A lot of people here will replace with leather anyways, so if they don't account for the thickness it will end up thicker

Well, then a lot of people here are idiots if they don’t reference this thread before replacing their base grip:
