Is the original Prince Synthetic Gut still the gold standard of cheap strings? I tried more expensive synthetics like NXT but didn't like them at all. I've heard a lot of people grew up playing with this string. Maybe I'm one of them.

I play with prince synthetic gut duraflex 17g. It feels very crisp and overall it is a great string. I have also played with gamma syn gut and head. Prince is top of the syn guts. Durability in matches is ok, but I have a ball machine and the strings will break after about 25 minutes when the machine is set to hard, heavy topspin.

I use the original 17g PSG and it never breaks on me. Maybe I should move up to 18g.

Alas, Prince's Original Synthetic Gut still doesn't come in an 18.

Since you still like this string, you should try out Prince's new Synthetic Gut Multifilament too, which, somehow, manages to play and feel a lot like it.

If you have played tennis for any length of time, you probably have used PSG. It has to be the number one selling string of all time.
