from your experiences which do you prefer? i am looking for more power, so I plan to go 17g in either one, or possible hybrid a 16 in one and a 17 in the other.

id say if your looking for power go with the lightning? i heard it gives alot of power if your not worried about durability

Syn Gut w/Duraflex. I've tried both on several occasions and the Syn Gut is the better of the two strings. I had 4 more sets of the Lightning XX and threw them away...horrible string IMO.

Lightning is horendous! It's pretty crisp, but feals bad and isn't worth the money.
I don't really like the Duraflex either, but it's cheaper, has the same durability, and i would rather play with it than the Lightning

Yea, definately Syn with Dura, I just got my racquet strung a few weeks ago and was making the same decision, Lighting XX is horrible durability, will break fairly soon where as Syn w/ Durflex is a good all around string, the strings seem to fray a bit though.

I've heard that both drop tension extremely quickly though.

i disagree, Lighning xx 17g is mad fun to play with and I prefer it over Duraflex. But the durability is pretty bad.

Haven't tried Lightning, but tried PSG and PSGD. I think PSGD is a nice string since it is grabs the ball real well.

I don't like lightning either, it doesn't provide enough feel. PSGD is one of the best syn guts out there. I personally like gosen og sheep or wilson stamina.

You will definitely get more power with Lightning XX--and less control, too.

Unless you break string more often than you should, Prince Synthetic Gut Original is what you want; it has more power than PSGD.

I didn't try about the Lightning XX either, but I am now hitting using the PSGD 16. I can say I finally found my string of love. It is cheap, its tension maintenance is good and it does not move much. I can say it does not move at all, except just a tiny bit at the left/right-most mains. And that is after 1 month of hitting 4-6 hours per week. Based on the opinions here, I think i am not going to try the Lightning XX at all. I prefer 16 as it can maintain the tension a little better than 17 version.

I used to use the gamma Pro plus 17. and it is crap after 3 hours, tension dropped so fast and it became so stiff. and the center mains moved probably 1cm after hitting. More, it costs much more.

So, go for PSGD, if you can't afford the time and money to do those expensive hybrid jobs. It has the blend of the sync gut and polyester.

Lightning XX would be a good cheap string except its HORRIBLE tension maintenance.
