Looking for help identifying if the Pro Staff 6.0 85 I purchased recently is a fake. It's one of the new Chinese manufactured sticks with the BLX butt cap. I bought two about a year ago from TW. The new one I got from a different source on the web.

I noticed a couple strange things that makes me question the racquet. First - the paint job on the TW 85s are a bit more glossy than the new one. Second, "Made in China" is printed on the inside of the throat of the racquet. The normal "China" sticker that is on the bottom of the butt cap was not on this model, but was on the ones that I bought from TW.

    Here are some pics:

    1) You can see the top (TW 85) is a deeper black and a bit shinier than the bottom (new 85).

    2) Here's the inside of the throats. The top (new 85) has "Made in China" printed on the inside, which is not on the bottom racquet (TW 85).

Did I get taken or does the new racquet look legit? Did Wilson change the design some this year or is there just shoddy quality control?

    Thoughts?

throw it on a scale. fakes are usually alot lighter than the real sticks. also ck the balance. PS85s are very headlight and fakes are usually more head heavy.

The balance of the new 85 is about the same as the ones I got from TW. It's very head light.

I'll try to track down a scale to weigh it.

take it to the post office and throw it on the APC (automated postal center) scale. if it's 12.4-12.9 oz, it's likely real. they try to make the fakes as cheaply as possible which is why they're generally quite a bit lighter in the handle. fakes usually skimp on material in the handle/pallet.
