pro tour 630/ 280 cosmetic differences (michael chaho??)

anybody know if there are any cosmetic differences on the paintjobs between the 630 and 280?

i'm asking because there is someone at my club that is just visiting and he was showing me some 630s he was willing to sell me and i've looked jsut about everywhere for 630s and couldn't find any.

The particular 630s he showed me had a different pj than my 280s and was wondering if these are legit differences...also are there any differences between the different pjs in the 630 line that anyone knows of? i.e. different flex, weighting?

    thanks

thanks jck01 i just noticed that today. the one pictured for that item has the pj that is similar to the one the guy is selling me. i'm just not sure if its authentic or not because i only have 280s and wanted peoples feedback about the cosmetics of the 630 and whether they are identical to the 280s or are the ones similar to the item listed on the auction site.

  4. Yes, the 630 was marketed in Europe. For some reason, they like nice easy numbers that actually mean something, in this case, the head surface area in cm². Pro Tour 630 frames came with CAP System grommets. The 630 frames in that picture have Pro Tour 280-style grommets. The original grommets were likely worn and replaced with the current grommets. That will make the frames likely play much more head-light and less stable, as they were designed with CAP System grommets in mind. Unless you don't mind messing with lead tape to make up for it, I'd wait.

Thanks Prestige! I'm actually looking for 630s for the reason of removing the cap and customizing one for myself and also for my brother who isn't as strong. Two questions:

    1. So the PJ cosmetics of the 280 and the 630 are definitely different?

    2. Do you recommend the LM Radical or I.Radical bumper and grommets to replace the CAPS?

    Thanks

Ok i was confused as to what i was trying to ask before but now have it straight.

I own two PT 280s and want two PT 630s. I've done all the research on the boards and know the differences in two models and between austrian and chinese.

I've never read anything discussed on different cosmetics. I'm looking at these two auctions on ****.

My 280s have a pj that looks exactly like these 630s: item #7176347965

Another auction for a pair of 630s has different cosmetics: item #7176298505

My question is for the differing cosmetics auction. I've seen some 630 auctions with this pj and I want to know if its an authentic racquet or not.

Any help would be very appreciated.

    Thanks.

oldest PT630: made in Austria on side beam, no cap grommet but same bumper guard as PT280.

next PT630: made in Austria above handle, has cap grommet

I have several if you want, or your can buy from that guy on ****.

    Different 630's

    Tandayu,

In your opinion, do the two versions ( cap vs no cap grommete) play differently? If they do, how so?

    Thanks!

    Tandayu-
Thanks for your commets and offer. I'm interested in possibly buying some 630s off of you and its very generous of you to offer. I'll shoot you an email sometime this week. I'll already had a pretty good idea of the "Made In Austria" locations,CAP or no CAP, and the other stamp variations. What I'm strictly concerned about, the only thing I'm interested in is purely the black and blue color scheme differences. I don't know if its authentic or not, which version is which, and so forth just solely based on the black and blue color scheme. I was wondering since you have a large collection of 630/280s if you could take a moment to look at the links below and comment on its authenticity or not. Others please feel free. I'm just worried about getting ripped off cuz i plan on starting a pretty big collection for my brother and also for my kids when they are old enough to play. Thank you all for your help.

PT 630 #1- This is the one I question. Notice the differnt black blue pattern.

PT 630 #2- These exactly like the 280 i'm use to.

Beanieweanie, I do not have any that looks like picture #1.
I have never seen it until now. I do not know if it is genuine or not, but it seems there is the bar code label sticker on the side beam above handle. It is interesting to see more pictures of that particular frame.

    tandayu,

What is head size of PT630? 93 or 95 sq inch?

From picture #2, http://tinypic.com/amsajl.jpg, are they original grommets of PT630?

Are racquets in pictures #2 genuine PT630?

    Thank you

PT630 from netherlands is authentic, the guy is very cool, and some PT 630 sticks do come with regular gromments, the black on throat PT might be an older version of the PT 280, no sure it says 280, like tandyu said sticker on side does mean it is authentic, would like to know butt cap stickers as well

anyway you should buy any PT you can get your hands on even if they are not your grip size,

I might let go of one of my Brand spanking NEW PT630 collection at $200 a pop, I was saving 8 in 1/4 for my 3 year old son to play with when he gets older, it is getting a bit strange when you lose hope in new technology and resort to saving rare frames for your loved ones to play with in the future.

Hi, if I use CAP System grommets of PT630 on PT280, how much weight will be added to the PT280?

Pic#2 definitely genuine with original bumper guard, not cap grommet. I might buy those also....

PT 630 is 98 sq inch (if my math ok). Like Chaho said, the guy in Netherlands is reliable. I am not related to him, but I have bought "many" rackets from him and still counting. He has consistently sold "good quality" used rackets to date.

Or you can buy from Chaho. His frames are from the older productions (early batch), with the bar code label sticker still intact.

PT630 is unique to USA, because it is for European market.

Another unique frame is the Prestige 600 with lime green cap grommet. Look at getty image for Thomas Muster in the 80's. HIs lotto shirts and shorts match color with his cap grommet and the grip color as well.

Michael Chaho, have you hit with OS PT280 before? How is it?

I want to thank you all very much for your help on these posts, especially to chaho who again i apologize for pulling out of retirement...and to tandayu for your replies as well. tan if you want to go ahead and bid for #2 as that seller has been selling lots of 630s as of late. i'll just get the next batch. if you could just briefly mention the buying process from him as i've never dealt outside the us? how long does it take...does he have many to choose from and will he let you request certain models or just what he posts at that particular time?

i will probably try to go after the next ones, #1 auction i'm still not sure of so i'm gonna hold off for now. my brother is still debating about whether to get 630s, an lm prestige and put some crisp multis with hybrid to offset the mushiness, or there is an off chance he may get partial sponsorship from volkl so he's gonna try out the gen II.

thank you all again for the great info.

If the cap grommets are like those of the LM Prestige, then it should add roughly 10 grams or so if I remember correctly (which is a big IF lol). My pro tour 280 with cap grommets weigh in at 356 grams with overgrip if that helps any.

alex, let me know if you still want AGASSI'S real Frame, it is non other than the PT 280 OS, I have not hit with it, my sister will be here in the US on sunday and she can pick up Two new PT 280 OS and two new lime grean/gray prestige pros,

as for weight of caps which is why I play with austrian PT 630 Caped they range between 335g and 345g, when you slap a CAP on a chinese PT 280 you end up over 355g and that is too much for me to handle

    tandayu,

Aren't they the same thing? I thought they are same thing. The drilled plastic piece on top of the racquet? Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Thank you

Older PT 630 comes with bumper guard (same as Pt280), while the later PT630 has cap grommet (like Prestige classic).
