We all know players walk on to court with 6-10 freshly strung racquets, but are they all brand new. If so how many racquests are used per tournament and per year for that matter. Are 12 racquets used for a single open from start to finish. Or is it Round 1=10 / Round 2=10, 3=10, qf=10, sf=10 and finals=10, so thereby 60 per tournament. Any info?

And so then basically what would be the yearly racquet consumption figure per pro player. 50, 100 or even 3000? Fellow guessers need not guess! Please ppl who know the facts or have a very good idea please reply!

Players go through anywhere from 35-80 sticks a year for the most part

This varies HUGELY from player to player. There are players who go through a hundred racquets a year, and tend to toss them on a regular interval. There are others who are still using old frames they have from years ago, and don't have that many in rotation (e.g. Blake, and for a while Davydenko). There's no hard and fast rule, as it's dependent on the situation, the specific player, the specific frame and whether or not it's available still, and on the sponsorship situation.

In terms of stringing and per tournament use, there's a lot of variation, too, but there are some more prevalent patterns. Many pros will bring anywhere from 5-15 frames to a tournament, and get them strung freshly prior to the first match. More and more frequently, they are now cutting out those strings, even if unused, and restringing before their next match. Some do it every other day rather than every day. In most cases, the really frequent re-stringers are ones who are using poly strings, which go dead more than other string types after being in a frame for a while.

I can say with relative confidence that it would be very rare for a player to use 10 different frames each round, resulting in 60+ frames per tournament. It's much more common to restring them than to bring in new ones each round. Obviously, as you get lower in the rankings, costs become more of a concern, and usage is less excessive. Annual "consumption" is much tougher to guess, as some players will just keep using the frames until they break, while others will constantly replace them. But there are many tour players who use fewer than 20 per year, rather than the huge numbers you were suggesting. And as long as the cosmetics permit, those may be used for quite a while after.

do they have to pay to get their stick strung? or does the tourney pay the stringers?

They pay. Some use outside services like P1 others the team at the tourney.

Correct. And in some cases, the stringer even pays the tournament for the right to the on site concession.
