I bought some new Asics Gel Resolution 3 shoes back In May '11. I first developed a hole in the left shoe after 26 uses. By 32 uses I was sliding quite a bit on the courts. Finally gave them up after 38 uses to send them in for warranty a few days shy of the 6-month warranty period. I love the shoes. Tried on over 20 pairs locally and did not like any of them much since I have been wearing running shoes exclusively for the last decade. I've worn my running shoes, too, for tennis which I think are much more comfortable but suck for lateral movement. Since the rubber is much softer on my running shoes I'd guess those wear down at least twice as fast which is why I finally caved and bought tennis-specific shoes. Almost all of this wear is from playing doubles so I'd cringe to think how much faster they'd wear down in singles. Aw, who am I kidding...my body would wear down quicker than the shoes! Below shows the pair after 38 uses when they retired... Below you can also see the significant heel wear. I burned a small hole in the right shoe heel. I know when I serve 'n volley I'm split stepping and stopping heels a lot to change direction.... Still wish I knew why I burned up the left shoe much more than the right. I'm a righty but the left shoe is getting more wear. Is there some sort of correlation on your handedness to which shoe gets more wear (if any)?
