It is interesting that real pros think that Rafa is the GOAT while the low level club players on this forum are still denying it.

You left out half the quote then say I'm twisting, the bit tacked on at the end where he says "or" one of the best is basically a retraction.

It was funny. It was just like Nadal kept saying Federer is the greatest every time Nadal beat him just to rub it in. Good times :)

Had to rate this 1 star for starting a thread on an outright lie and misquote.

    Should be deleted.

zeballos is of course right in calling nadal the GOAT.......nadal is the only player in the history to win two or more grandslams on clay, grass and hardcourts.......

he's certainly going to add a few more slams to his tally and has a dominating record over all his main rivals.......

Didn't Djokovic say the same thing when he started his sequence of iconic wins against Nadal in IW? I remember Rafa was furious that Novak called him GOAT, especially straight after beating him.

NatF was responding to the statement that you made that Nadal is the only man to win two slams on each of the three surfaces. You did not state career slam, or named any specific tournament.

Those surfaces were 100% legit when they were played on, that is why they are counted in the slam tally, regardless of what today's surfaces for each slam are.

You could have said that Nadal is the only player to get the career slam, and win two slams on each of the three surfaces. That would be more accurate. So NatF was right in correcting your original statement.

Yeah it was awesome. Djokovic did to Nadal exactly what Nadal loved doing to Federer. Beat him and them call him GOAT. I hope every time Nadal loses the winner calls him the GOAT. Also, it would be awesome if winner did more fist pumps and excessive celebration than Nadal, made Nadal wait for the coin toss and did some aggressive movements right before coin toss.

I am sure he knows the difference between clay and other surfaces better than any of the club players here and would have said it if he intended to

It was the spur of the moment. It was obvious he was excited that he won and he said that in disbelief. Plus hes never played Federer. LOL GS champions such as Sampras and Mac and Laver think Fed is GOAT. Zebellos is a nobody. Nadal is the clay GOAT but thats where it ends. Nadal has taken too many breaks and lacks the consistency of ever being called GOAT.

    No, you are a nobody

Sampras/Mac/Laver have never played against Rafa. Sampras and Mac don't even know how to win a French Open, they are not even qualified to speak on the GOAT issue.

What is up with these Rafa fans? They've gone crazy with all these desperate threads.

A stupid thread cannot change anything. Rafa is the king of clay, is that not enough to keep you going?

You can find a hundred quotes from pros - including Rafa himself - saying that Rog is the GOAT, but not one that says Rafa is the GOAT. So why waste everybody's time with this thread?

LOL Rafa says that to pay the obligatory respects. He doesn't respect Federer and that is pretty obvious. It was Fed who created the pseudo bro bonding when he realized he could not beat him.

As far as the others, most of the tennis elite is dominated by Fed worshippers who still cannot believe that an elegant player with a 1 handed BH and small head frame can be dismantled by a simple muscular rustic boy.

Actually that is what he said.

He said he is happy to win to the goat in slow courts.

Thats a damning picture if there ever was one. If he doesnt win in Acapulco, I think he will have another injury or just retire.

    full quote.

"This is the game of my life," Zeballos said. "Playing against the best player of all-time, or one of the best in the history of tennis. It's a dream, unforgettable. I will never forget this moment."

You mean the title that didnt exist for the first 7 years of Wilander's career and that he never in fact played? Nice reasoning.

In that case Fed lacked the competition to be considered goat.

    Pretty much.

"I am very happy that Rafa come to Viña del Mar, in my house, and that Chileans can enjoy it and learn from it. You always want to play against Nadal, Federer or Djokovic and here it would be special. Known him since he was 15 years and have always had a cordial relationship. I think it's the greatest on clay, one of the best tennis players in history and one of the best athletes of all time. "Nadal is to tennis what Phelps is to swimming, Jordan to basketball or Ali to boxing" Massú.

Yup. Seems the OP was dishonest on multiple counts: first, he took the victor's comment out of context and left out a teensy, weensy qualifier, and second, he said "pros," as in, plural. Who are these other "pros?"

Murray believes Nadal is the GOAT.

He probably has a better claim to decide than anyone else in the world.

EDIT : Also how can the greatest of all time, never had a winning head to head against Murray?

And Murray was never a Fed fart - and that is the reason he can defeat Fed. I suspect he respects Nadal more than he does Fed.

This guy looks physically bigger than Rafa. He must've had his Rosol moment. Probably saw Rafa in person for the first time and thought "Why should I be scared of this little man? He's not so big!"

Nobody except Djokovic has ever pushed Nadal to his limits across all surfaces the way Federer has. Nadal has tremendous respect for Federer's game. I don't know what he thinks about Federer personally but in terms of tennis, Nadal doesn't deny Federer's quality.

I would have to contest that, at least in slams (which are the most important events, I think we can all agree on that.). There is only one of the 4 where Fed has pushed Rafa to his limits: Wimbledon. He's never even taken Rafa to a 5th at RG (Isner has and Sod got a win). He has never beaten Rafa at AO (unlike Djoko or Tsonga) and the 5th set they played at AO was considerably easier for Rafa than the one he played vs Verdasco. The players who have pushed Rafa at USO (other than Djoko obviously) are Murray and Delpo. In a nutshell, other than grass, Fed has never really pushed Rafa in slams, certainly not to his limits.
