Curious as to which pros have used or still use the POG. If you know, I'd also like to know if they use the oversize. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Agassi, used the POG OS before using Donay, and Head. Chang used the POG OS before Prince made him is own Chang racquets.
Coria, and Ferrero used the POG LB last year. Nalbandian used the POG also before he moved to Yonex, same with Hewitt.
Current Pros that still use the POG OS are Spadea and Rochus. There are probably others, but those two are the ones I know of hand.

Rochus doesn't use an original graphite, he plays a Chang longbody which has the 16 x 20 pattern as it was sold in Europe. Rafter did NOT play an original graphite when he came to tour, it was the Graphite II he played. Novotna tried an original graphite for a bit. LLeyton played the graphite 90. Martin Lee of Britian when I last caught him was playing one since he ran otu of Response Titaniums. It's a racquet that really isn't chosen by top players. Some will come up with them as juniors, then switch when the dollars are offered, or a better deal even if no money is involved.
Paul Annacone - my favourite player as a kid. You are showing your age Nastase, LOL, but as I would have said the same names I guess it shows mine as well LOL. Definately the era I remember best - Glickstein, Mayer, Lewis, McNamee et al.
I also think Chip Hooper (anyone remember him?) used it early on in his career and there was a Swedish player, Nicholas Kulti who I believe used it (could have been the mid) before moving to Head. Paul Goldstein did as well, or was that the Chang?

Thomas, why is it that the racquet isnt chosen by top players? Is it a problem with the frame or is it more of a sponsorship issue (as in, no money if you use the POG)?

I recall a great photo of wanton pro excess from Vince Van Patten's prime (well, he was losing, so maybe just past his prime). Vince wasn't even in the picture. He used a great big Lark luggage duffle as his gear bag, with huge Lark brand logos on it (endorsement?, and don't bother looking for it, 'cause I've never found it). Strewn around it on the court, by his chair, were his match spoils: literally eight (8) POG OS's (single green, please!) of which at least three had been cracked during the match. Why the other five were out just lying on the court, who knows. Stringer woes, or do I hear the bell tolling ...
He was good, and may have even had a cup of coffee in the world's top twenty around 1981. He provided the game with one of the Open era's greatest weeks of treeing when he zoned his way to the Seiko Tokyo title that fall knocking off several great players, including a peak Mac in the final. Very athletic and telegenic, the industry mags of the time loved his picture. Also, was one of Ellesse's first sponsorees when the company made its big push into the US tennis market that year. Vince was known for putting shirts and shorts color schemes together that make one sad for what passing for men's tennis dress today (I'm thinking grapefruit yellows and sky and azure blues). You could be straight and rock those Italian color combos back then!

I saw Rochus's racquet, and it has a paint job I've never seen and a curved crossbar, unlike the pogs straight bar. What racquet is he using?

He uses different POG variants, ex... POG OS, Chang LB, and TT Graphite midplus. I haven't seen him play the NXG. Hard to say which one he is using because he changes often. Last year he was using the TT Graphite Mid plus which has the curved crossbar. This year at the Australian Open he used an POG OS against Safin.splink779 said:

Wow, was that really 24 years ago ? I still recognize most of those names in the top 100. Some good stories in there, Remember Pecci making the finals of the French against Borg and the Diamond earring he used to wear ? How about John Sadri "the mad marine" making the NCAA finals against Mac ? Kevin Curren beating Mac and Jimbo back to back at Wimbledon weilding the Kneissel...How about Butch Walts beating Vilas in a night match at the US Open.

No prob. When I was watching, they showed a quick clip of the Safin match, and Brad Gilbert said something like, 'that guy uses the longest racquet allowed, hes gotta for his size.(Not a quote, its from memory, so dont bash Gilbert for whatever reason)" I know its probably impossible to tell, but he's gotta be using something like a 28 incher.
