Hi guys

I'm applying to you all, wilson experts

I'm facing a real trouble to find grommets for my PS 6.0 95 sticks. I've already posted an wanted add here http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?p=7239232#post7239232

I just can't find grommets for them here in Europe (i have 5 rackets, and at least 3 of them need grommets), and since i don't have Dolgopolov's contact...

A co-member from TT suggested me to try BLX 6.1 team grommets, since both rackets have the same 16x18 string pattern on 95 sq.i. head size, and both skip the same holes when stringing

Whats do you guys think?

Anyone have ever try this?

Regards
Antonio - Portugal

I've tried all over the UK, contacting both Wilson and framework, the latter thought the ncode pro staff would fit but i can't find any info on that racquet and the former denied there was a 95" prostaff....
I also asked TW some months back and they weren't able to convince wilson it was a good idea, wonder if they'd sell us the mold to the grommets.

Hi Dave
Let's see what comes up with this rumor about BLX Team grommets
This one come from Wilson, I've already emailed TW to ask them about this, no answer yet.
(I'm so desperate that i went to Dolgopolov's page and sent an email trying my luck about getting some grommets sets for my PS's)

never thought of going to a pro and asking!
fingers crossed on the blx grommets as that'd be a whole lot easier than trying to tap up pro players wouldn't it!

Do keep us posted on the reply from TW as well as your findings from Dolgopolov. It would be great to have a source otherwise I think I will have to retire my beloved 6.0 95's and just stick with the K90 as it shares the same grommets as the BLX 90's.

The 6.1 Team is a 21mm frame and I'd be very surprised if the grommets would just slide on in there.

When will Wilson understand, we want a 95" thin beamed racquet with Graphite/Kevlar, not BLX or [K]arbon or whatever other [K]rap u wanna call it!

Guys, what about using Fittex replacement grommets from TW? You can replace all the gromments in the headguard and then put a layer of headguard tape over them.

Hi guys

The TW experts reply me about the 6.1 grommets, and we have a no answer:

Unfortunately, the grommet sets for the Wilson BLX Six.One Team racquet will not fit the Pro Staff 6.0 95 racquet. The difference in frame shape will effect the fit of the grommets. Also, these racquets have different skips and slightly different beam widths.

And still no answer from Dolgo, i don't understand why...

I don't know nothing about those grommets, my major problem is scuffed bumpers (and the cracked grooves from one of my sticks), i play only on hard court, and even 2 layers of protection tape are not enough there

Thats a real good idea, i would join the club for sure
It's a shame that Wilson's grommets are not like Head's, pretty much universal

If I were you, I would scour the popular auction site as much as possible. That's going to be your best opportunity to find these old grommets. I had a guy with one frame and really wanted to keep playing with it.

So, I searched and searched until I came across a seller on E3bay. I think I paid $25 for it, which wasn't stupid crazy, but my guy was willing to pay it.

So..he was very happy in the end.

I don't know if you already checked this one out, but I found a tennis shop in Scottsdale, AZ that sells pro staff 6.0 95 grommet sets at a reasonable price. ($14.95/set)

Mentioning the shop's name itself here may violate TW talk tennis policy, so I suggest that you google "biggest tennis shop in Scottsdale, Arizona," which will lead you to information on that shop, including the retail webpage.

Good luck!

Look what I got today on my mail...

[IMG][/IMG]

Finally: it took almost 1 1/2 year, but finally I found what I want: a guy with multiple sets to sell.

They came from US, with a nice fair price, and customs free, and you all have good reasons here to be a bit jealous about me...

So, I'm ending my long quest, at least for now.

Which leaves me to the next question: I received an email from a guy, asking me if I know anything about built this b/g's with a 3D printer

I'm not an expert, but if you can built fire weapons with a 3D printer, why not racket grommets?

It makes sense to me

So, any computers expert input would be useful here

regards
Antonio

Good for you, Antonio. The shop I mentioned as selling the pro staff 6.0 95 grommets apparently sold out their stock and stopped carrying them, so my information would not have been helpful anyway. I was lucky enough to get a few sets from the shop before they ran out..:???:

It is obviously best to get proper grommet set, but what about getting something close enough and cutting into sections so they fit?

I did this once for Dunlop Aerogel 200 16*19 (I think) when my local shop ordered wrong set and I already discarded old grommets.
We found something close enough from the shop spare bins and cut it into 4-5 fragments to fit it in.

I did not notice any issues when playing with it.

No idea what grommets for other frame would be the closest match.

There are no "close enough" grommets for this stick, I tried that too, I asked wilson headquarters, Wilson stringers, personally (on Portugal Open string shop) and through email, TW staff, racket customizers (Ring and Roll, one of his ATP pro clients, Michael Barrer, is one of the pro's out there playing with this stick under a paint job), etc., simply nothing can be adapted.

The 16x18 models from Wilson are rounded or oval beam shaped, the 6.0 is squared

And all the other squared beam Wilsons have different string pattern (a simple example, the new PS 95 is 16x19) and/or different head size, like Fed's old 90 sq.i. line

The funny thing is that I have grommets for this racket with a different code than the ones I posted pics, thats still a mystery to me

I would like some input about the 3D printer solution, anybody?
