And im serious. Its weird, wasn't doing anything thing crazy, was just warming up and felt this pain around my left butt cheek. Couldn't really move well as putting on my left butt would signal this sharp pain. In addition, i started to get little aches on the left side of my back as well.

Any know of any streches I can do to loosen my muscles up? Or any physio experts out there know why the pain would also radiate to my back?

    Thanks!

sit down and pull your leg up to your chest and pull it toward the opposite side of your body.

If its on the underside part of your butt cheek, it could be an upper hamstring injury. If thats the case, it'll take a LONG time to heal completely, when you do get active again in a month or so, you'll want to wear a wrap (ALL THE TIME). Hopefully its not the hammy though.

If you are talking about stretching your hip flexors, then lay on your back with your knees bent to make your legs in an upside-down V shape, then take one foot and cross it over/around the other knee and pull your knee up towards your head. If this hurts like hell then you probably did something to a hip flexor.

Personally, this is a stretch I am doing before I play every time. It really helps if you're the kind of player that plays for 2 hours +.

Stretches? Stretches? Are you serious or just ignorant? You never stretch a strained muscle. Do not apply heat either. You need to ice that ass and rest it. Don't ever ask for stretching advice for an injury again.

I agree that it's probably a pulled hammy. I did this in December playing tennis and thought it was a glut but I went to go skateboarding a couple days later and dropped in and nearly killed myself when the pain shot from the back of my knee up to the base of my right cheek. Apparently my body wasn't ready for that level of activity and I was barely able to put weight on it after that for several hours.

I'd stretch it by sitting with the good leg folded in so the sole of your foot is flat against the inside of the bad thigh and lean forward and to the outstreched foot. Also roll the back of the thigh on something, I use the roller part of a balance board. You might need some Icy Hot too. Go easy on it for a couple days to a week though.

    here, I'll post pics........

your either joking or not understanding the problem. he pulled the muscle. so how is pulling on it harder gonna help it heal? he needs to get off it and ice. by strecthing it hes only gonna hurt it worse. u gotta let the muscle heal first.

sharp pain in the butt muscle might be coming from the back

check near the spin for small knots and put pressure on them

there is something called a "Ma Roller" you can lay on if you don't have someone to do physical therapy.

or it could just be a strained muscle ....

ice is always nice ... I don't use heat for at least two days after a strain to allow the swelling to leave

Goofle: pyriformis syndrome. This may or may not be your problem.

I believe he meant stretching it in the future (after it heals) so he doesn't pull it again.

Anyone who's ever tried to actually stretch a recently pulled muscle knows not to the second time.

The best butt cheek stretch is the pigeon stretch... a yoga pose. First you'll want to accumulate some heat in the muscle... either massage, heating pad, or warm-up routine.

Next, in a push-up position, drop both knees to the floor.

Bring your right foot out to your left hand. Lower yourself to the floor. if your loose, your foot might be by your shoulder, if your tighter right foot might be by left hip.

Do not do this stretch cold!
