I was just wondering what the differences are between Sig Tornado and Black5Edge? How many hours of play are you getting out of each one? Thanks.

I'm sure Mr. PV will chime in but I use B5E as a main string (see my signature) and love it. I've also tried Tornado as a main string and was disappointed. Tornado looks like it should put massive spin on the ball but that was not what I experienced. See some reviews I did here:

Thanks for posting. I've got B5E 17/Sweet 17 in at 45/42 with my previous
set up being Tornado 17 and Sweet 17 at the same tension. Playing in hot, humid conditions so this should be interesting.

B5E and Tornado are very opposite feeling strings. Regardless of its ludicrous profile, Tornado gives about as much spin as B5E. The difference is in the feel. Tornado has an uncanny responsive feel to it, while B5E is much more muted and lower powered. They are both baseliners strings for sure, but B5E can be crossed to be more of an all-court setup. I truly like both a very large amount, but for different reasons. I like crisp, responsive strings, and Tornado has that plus more. However! More than that, I like WeissCANNON poly strings for reasons I can't explain. They just...work for me. B5E and Scorpion, IMO, being their best. My Head favors B5E, while my Dunlop made the most of Tornado. You'll just have to try it and see :)

Do be warned: Tornado, regardless of spin, SHREDS crosses. You have been told in advance. :)

This is a TTW world first: posting a raw video where you know you look bad.

So I went out today, and unlike usual, I only videoed myself right at the end of my workout (about an hr and a half). I think this might turn out to be more useful as a metric of progress (especially stamina and endurance), because when you're gassed (and trust me, I am completely shot here!), your technique even from ball to ball just goes into the tank. Footwork goes straight into the tank. I fit this guideline like a glove. Video is straight rip from the camera. Never even saw a video editing program.

gassed for sure...i could only imagine the pain.
the BH at 2:34 for sure was the one that takes the cake!

Great work out. I try and do this as well with a couple of other players after a couple of sets have already been played. We do rallies (singles) where after the 5th ball hit the pace is ramped up and our legs and fundamentals are hanging by thread

Ball machine. That opponent has infinite stamina :)

I plan to make this my new video series, just to see how my strokes are holding up under pressure and fatigue. At the moment, not too well. :D

I purchased them through one of the big online retailers. They simply had stock damaged in shipment, so I took it off their hands :)

Yep PV, def gassed, balls spraying everywhere, but it's good you can laugh at yourself. Are you still with the Prestige Pro? Do you prefer the ball machine or person when practicing?

For practice, a player absolutely. For training/fitness, the machine since it doesn't also degrade as it tires out :)

Any new string testing? Or is that over with now?

On a different note, I played a club tournament this past weekend where I had the chance to watch Purdue's top travel team after mine was knocked out of the tournament. Needless to say, they're pretty damn good lol.

Oh yeah lol. There was a guy that spent 3 years on varsity before joining club that hit the absolute hell out of the ball. And your president hits damn well, too. For a girl that is

I switched to the Prince Tour 100T ESP. The super open pattern combined with the double bridge technology makes this one very easy on the 'ole arm.

Merry Christmas everyone, pv are you planning on demoing the graphene prestige pro? I'm hesitate to pull the trigger since they're going lighter.

Word to those who will listen: tennis once every 10 days is not conducive to steady progress :)

Good summer to all! Just wanted to "update" in that there is no real update. Still going strong with the Prestige Pro, although I cracked one on a serve  but am doing Scorpion/Nvy at 47/50. Can anyone give me a run down of what's the "hot" string out there these days?

My good man, were you not using Pacific/Co-Focus a year ago? I believe it was you who started the entire gut/CoFocus trend on here. :)

pvaudio - hope family life is going well. How'd you crack the racquet? I thought I was going to loose my racquet on my serve today. It was a different racquet and the grip wasn't tacky enough. Thought it was going to slip out when serving...

regardless...hot string of the moment? I'm playing with some old stock Beast Attack. It was on sale for like $3 and got a good batch.

    Happy hitting!

Full poly!?!? The arm is holding up?

dj, I thought I had one more game before I should switch sticks because the grip was greasy. Turned out I had one less game :(

The arm is fine but I always compensate with pain somewhere else in my body. On a long vacation so hopefully everything heals up.
