If you play preseason but get injured before the season starts...can you skip that season and play the next year?

You might have heard of a medical red shirt, but it isn't a real thing. What really happens if you have a season-ending injury is that you miss the rest of that year and then petition for a medical hardship waiver to get an extra year of eligibility tacked on at the end of your current eligibility period.

talk with your coach, compliance at your school so you get correct information. Sounds like if no competition played in then you would be warranted a RS year whether Medical or not.

My son is seeing the team doctor tomorrow...and his season starts Friday...so upset for him...

I was just wondering, not wanting to stress him out to much. He has struggled with tennis elbow since he was 14, and now he has a buldge in his forearm and lots of pain...

    Thanks for the input...
