Just picked up almost brand new Head Comp Master. It is 102 sq in (660) and 18x19.

Here is a cool thing about this racquet, it has black grommets instead of "brittle" white grommets that I've always experienced these older Head frames (Comp pro,Comp Master etc). As some of you may already know that the white grommets tend to be brittle and almost not useable.

Did I just get lucky? These black grommets are non brittle and in perfect condition. What other masters come with black grommets? Thanks

    ***will post pictures later***

the original white grommets have likely been replaced. i believe replacement grommets for the Master series were still available until about 5 years ago.

    OR a TXP in oversize.

I was wondering about that. The black Graphite Master would have had these same strips and bumper, yes?

If only 'we' had known to stockpile the replacement sets over two decades ago! ;)

There's probably a garage out in Boulder with a goldmine of replacement parts for various Head models!

IIRC, the 1987-1988 turquoise blue/green Graphite Master was the only Master series frame with the white plastics - the rest of them had black plastics.

I wish HEAD would return to the slimmer boxy-ness of these molds, instead of the current day 21-23mm semi-wide molds.

Later Comp Master had the white grommets. Also the later Comp Master slightly different graphics.

The TXMaster had the 'matching' dark dark burgundy/brown strips and bumpers...great racket(other than that pesky tendency to go out of shape after a few stringings) :)
