    Chris,

I know you once played with this racquet. What poly would you suggest that will be soft and control oriented? I was maybe going to try Solinco Revolution. Thoughts? Thanks!!

Solinco Revolution is pretty firm, so if you want something soft, you'd have to hybrid the cross string with a multi.

To stay in a full poly set up I would recommend going with something much softer such as Polyfibre Cobra or TCS, Poly Star Classic, Topspin Cyber Flash and I'd throw Tourna Big Hitter Blue in the mix as well.

All of those I find to be pretty forgiving polys and also offer lots of control.

    Hope that helps.

Would the ALU Power string at mid 50's be too stiff for the already stiff frame?

I actually like the firmer polys in a powerful frame like a Pure Drive Roddick. I find they add control and help me stay fast with my swing to get the spin needed to control the power. However, if comfort is a concern for you, you might find that set up too brassy.

You should consider ALU Power Rough as it plays slightly softer.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Chris,

What string do you play with when you are playing around with the Pure Drive Roddick?

    Thanks for the help.

I know right now Chris has some Savage @55 lbs (because he's playtesting it for a review) in one as I've taken full custody over that racquet! ;)

As Michelle stated, I use a poly and 55-57lbs is my starting point. I go up or down from there if needed. For instance, with TCS I went as high as 62lbs with no comfort issues in the PDR.

I like a full bed of poly in that racquet for maximum control and spin.

Yes, it works very well in that racquet. Lots of control and lots of spin. The feel is pretty firm, but opens up a bit if you hit with a lot of spin and take advantage of the string's ability to slide against itself and snap back (gives the sensation of more ball pocketing and is great for spin). I would be right at 56lbs for that string in the PDR.
