I have compiled a quick list of the ATP Top 100, and the sticks they are promoting. This is not what they are actually using (i.e. paint jobs of this or that etc.), but what they are "promoting".

I used gettyimages to get an idea of what they're swinging. However, some of them were too difficult to make out (e.g. string pattern, old model, etc.) So if you see something you think is incorrect, please help out... but please be nice about it :).

Interesting info - nice to see everything in one list. Even Pro Kennex (and even Bosworth) made it onto the lit, but no Volkl - speaking about niche manufacturers... :)

Head are the most used, contrary to popular belief around here that babolat are.

I'm assuming these aren't all the exact racquets they use, rather the paintjob on the racquet they sponsor if it has one?

    np..

Wilson probably just lost the lead due to the recent signings of Djoko and Davy.

nice work! bravo. put djoko using speed pro, even though we know he isn't acctually using that exact model, it's what he's promoting and what they want people to believe.

Great list, thanks. I'd have sure thought that Babolat was the most-used professional racquet as well and then would have put Wilson behind them. It is surprising then that Head topped the list. I'll bet Wilson tops the doubles list...

It is interesting that you mention this. I was watching Seppi/Federer this morning and thought about the parallel between ProKennex and Volkl. PK was becoming a player in the late 70s, early 80s with their Ace series. They had a number of players using them and were selling a good number of the frames. The three most popular that I remember were the Silver Ace, Golden Ace, and the Black Ace. Most notable users were Robert Seguso, Jose Luis Clerc, and Rod Laver although I've read that Pat Cash used a Golden Ace dressed up to look like a Prince. :)

Volkl too saw the height of their popularity when they had the C-series. They were selling frames and had a number of pros using, primarily the C10.

It's also interesting that both make arm friendly, flexy frames and have fallen on leaner times in the sales area. Although I was surprised to see the clamor a year or so ago on the boards when PK quit producing for a time. There is one guy I play with who still clings to his PK's.

The top endorsed racquets correspond to the most sold..interesting, what the players use really determines sale to the public.

Federer is not using a special mold, he is using the K90.
Andy Murray is using the MG Prestige Pro.
David Nalbandian is not using a special mold but the RDiS 100 MP extended.
Gasquet is using the LM Instinct Tour XL.
Hewitt has switched to the RDiS 100 mid.

Rabbit, get out of my head!! :) Wow..that's EXACTLY what I was thinking while watching Seppi and his PK today against Federer, too! I wonder if the AG100 actually telepathically links the minds of its users?? ;)

You left the Copper Ace off the "popular PK Aces" list--my recollection is that that was one of, if not the most, popular Ace (although i could be wrong). I had a CA and a Silver Ace, and they were both AWESOME sticks at the time...although personally I thought the CA was better.

Anywho...sorry to sidetrack the thread a bit...carry on with the ATP listings, these are great to read!

    Sorry, can someone clarify...

So most of the rackets the pros are promoting are not the rackets that's sold to us?

And, do all those pros who promote Wilson k95 are really playing with the old prostaff 6.1?

I've been playing with the ps 6.1 and thinking about upgrading to the k95. I'm so confused.

James, most of the racquets the pros use are either customized (usually weighted more) or are painted to appear as though they are a "current racquet" when in reality they're using an older racquet. People on here have made "Detect The Paintjob On The Pro" almost into a spectator sport :)

Not everyone who's "playing" with the k95 are actually playing with the 6.1. If they're using a racquet painted to look like a k95, they may actually be using any Wilson racquet, including a 6.1.

As for whether to upgrade to the k95, you're not going to base that decision on whether pros use it or not, right? ;) You just need to demo it and see if you like it better than the 6.1. From what I've heard/read, generally the 6.1 is regarded as being the better version in the series.

    thanks for the info dave,

the prostaff 6.1 that i've been using was a hand me down, and its in really bad shape. it's literally falling apart. i really liked the 6.1 but i thought new k95 would be better. maybe i'll just look for a used ps6.1 in good condition.

    thanks!

You're welcome. I still recommend that you demo the k95 anyway if you can; no sense not giving it a shot. I still play with my 6.1, but I'd demo the k95 if I were able to.

And I agree with Rabbit about PK & Volkl ... Good stuff. Niche products for those who know the goods in them.
