At least that is what the commentators in Acapulco are saying now!
For real? That's GREAT news!
They said he is going to play, he loves the place, etc.
Finally I am happy that I purchased tickets. I was afraid of a very low level of tennis if Rafa does not show up.
Nadal likes playing hard to get with tournament directors.
Yup they confirmed that he said he is going to be in IW next week
The King is back!
Isn't this what we heard about the USO 2012, Winter 2012 indoor season, WTF 2012, and AO 2013?
I'll believe when I see it at this point.
Wow that's great news, definitely didn't expect that. I hope it doesn't aggravate his knee or end in another injury.
Bad move. He's just going to tear up his knee again grinding away on those slow hardcourts with nothing to show for it. If he falls in Cvac's half of the draw, may God have mercy on him because he's going to get slaughtered out there.
I would have rather seen him skip these and go to the European clay and have a better chance to get all the way through the year. He obviously wants to play, though.
Bye bye knees.
wow hes damned if he does and damned if he doesnt here. if he skips it they say hes using his knees as an excuse, if he plays it they say its a mistake and will ruin his knees. make up your minds people
Hello Fedal QF or SF match..(could be).
I said at the time that he said that he would skip Indian Wells that I thought it was a wise move.
Woo! That's fun!
I saw him in IW last year for the first time. Wouldn't mind doing it again!
Good decision, if he feels any pain in his kness he can skip Miami.
I'll believe it when I see it. He hasn't played a HC match since....lol, I don't even remember. Was it some match in Miami before he withdrew or something?
Would be good for the game to see Nadal back in the mix for all surfaces.
This is great news. Apparently, Larry Ellison gives Rafa his house to use while him and his team are in IW - he's well looked after there.
I still wouldn't rule out a withdrawal after spending a few days in IW.
Rafa confirming he's going to IW
I don't think that "people" need to make up their singular minds. Some people think one thing, and some other people think the opposite.
When he says he'll do A, the people who approve of A cheer, and the people who disapprove boo. When he says he'll do B, the people who approve of B cheer, and the people who disapprove of B boo.
I'll still wait for him to turn up and play before I'll be sure it's happening, but I can see him giving it a decent go, with the knowledge he can pull out of Miami.
He should at least try out his knee on a hard-court before announcing that it's too painful. He doesn't have much to lose, if he plays rubbish, he can blame it on the change of surface and it aggravating his injury. If he doesn't go, it will look like he's dodging the surface he's not good at, and he risks missing out on a lot of points.
He has to play HC events at some point anyway. If his knee feels okay then why not at IW as he has played well there before.
Hopefully has a good run and wins some matches. After beating Ferrer with ease bound to have plenty of confidence.
do you really believe in this knee comedy ?...
Hope so, tennis at the top is getting very dull.
IW will be more interesting, but Nadal might be falling into the trap, just because you bagelled Ferrer doesn't mean you can play at a high level on hardcourts.
this is good for tennis. very emotional time for nadal.
If he plays it doesn't mean he has to do the whole tournament but it will be practice for him and better than taking a month off
I can't wait! The gang is all back together again.
This will be the Nadards reaction when their hero falls to the GOAT known as Novak Djokovic.
Don't fool yourself Nadards, the end in near.
What I believe is that he could only keep up the charade for so long before he couldn't take it anymore. Clearly the b.s. about the knees was just that: b.s. Now that he's back to his pre-ban form he's going to play IW because it's not about the knees folks. Get with the program.
Hilight for spoiler-
And what a great friend his is to David Ferrer who has owned this tournament for three years. I guess he isn't happy being the Spanish #2. Jerk. He had to put Daveeed in his place by bageling him
He'll lose a lot of points if he does that though.
Remember, he's defending a SF and a Final appearance from last year.
I'm not disagreeeing with this prediction, but is it really that shameful for a guy who was out 7 months to lose to the world #1? Especially when you consider that hard court would be Rafa's worst surface, and Djokovic's best surface.
I really don't think so.
No he's not. He's defending SF points in both.
No. What is really shameful is coming back after 7 months of a supposed injury layoff and getting to a final and two wins in your first three tournaments back, destroying your buddy in the process and still claiming it's all about the knees.
No.. of course not, it's not embarrassing to lose to the caliber of a god and the sooner the Nadards realize that, the better.
Rafa spanking his pets in Mexico don't change the fact he wimped out of playing Dubai.
He will be exposed at IW. That's a fact. 8)
I don't think that beating Djokovic is mission impossible.
Nadal has not beaten Djokovic at a HC masters series in 6 years. It was the first and last time, back at IW 2007 final.
I would love it if Nadal beat Djokovic QF of Indian Wells!
A real shame Fed couldn't do the same to this guy, no?
That will only happen if he loses, sorry I like bandwagons
just found the truth ("for sure that the truth, no?") about the knees of the rusty peak injured golden dullbull:
(liked the sampras/becker thing !)
That sounds quite bad, but then I look at the Olympics, WTF and US Open wins and it doesn't seem too bad. Then we have to consider when Novak was in his top form, Rafa played him tough in IW and Miami back in 2011.
It's not like he hasn't beaten him in a major for 6 years  unlike somebody who hasn't been able to do so against Rafa...
Not to discredit Nadal's win, which looked inspired in stretches, but Ferrer's game was completely off last night. Comparing it to Berdych's (and Federer's level), even if just to tame the vitriol of others, seems wrong.
True. It is not mission impossible.
Time to feed Nadal to Djokovic.... I hope it happens in IW.
Thanks for the video!
he looks 40
It will not change a thing. Feds to lose
I agree. Good post.
I can't see nadal performing in indian wells, despite his good results of late. he hasn't played on hard since miami last year! this is my preview for the tournament: http://www.andbethere.com/2013/03/preview-to-2013-bnp-paribas-masters-in.html - there's only gonna be one winner and surely that's djokovic...
He never said he would skip IW.
Yes, taking so long off didn't seem like a good idea.
