Since no one has started a thread about this I thought I could.

    Nadal makes winning return

Rafael Nadal has made a quick recovery from a career-threatening foot injury

Top seed Rafael Nadal of Spain signalled his return to competition with a 4-6 6-2 7-5 victory over Belgium's Olivier Rochus at the ATP tournament in Marseille on Tuesday.

Nadal, who had been out of action for four months with an injury to his left foot, said he wanted to make the most of the match to get back into the rhythm of competitive play and he succeeded in his objective.

"It was a hard match. Rochus played very well and was aggressive right from the start," said world number two Nadal, who admitted he felt tired afterwards.

Far from being a lacklustre opponent for Nadal's return, the 25-year-old Rochus pushed the 19-year-old prodigy right to the limit in the almost two-and-a-half hour match.

Nadal will meet Frenchman Gilles Simon, who beat Finland's Jarkko Nieminen on Monday, in the second round. ( tomorrow, not before 7pm)

Clement played the second and third set really well. It was a close one. Just a matter of a few points here and there but in the end, he deserved to win it.

However, Nadal did really well reaching the semi-final of this tournament away from his favourite surface after a break of 4 months.

I recall two breaks by both guys in the course of the match. Two points separated them in the end -- it was very close.

I guess that was Clement's secret to success...no more blond hair, no more sunglasses.

I do his website. And yes I know him a bit. But, regardless, I can still watch matches and report what I see. And I don't see anyone disputing my recollection of the match stats. ;-)
