Apparently, Rafa posted a picture of his gear on Facebook. But if you notice, his racquet has a black grip on it? That's unusual considering he always uses a white grip. I know Babolat Aero Line is supposed to be updated in 2013, and was thinking maybe this was a sneak peek? But it seems like just the regular AeroPro Drive just with a black grip. Silly post but.....What's your take? :)

It's still his regular one, someone else made a thread on this. I read somewhere that he always has to have a black grip underneath his white grip.

The two first wraps of the grip (counted from the butt) look strange. There is a big bump. It could be just the camera angle though.

    cam angle.

Rafa has always used the Babolat Syntec grip under his VS Overgrips.. the original APD came with the black version, but the two newer versions of the APD come with white.

In alot of ways, his frame is a retail first gen APD. Just some lead under the bumper and an overgrip with shock absorber.

Perhaps Rafa has been using the ever so famous "smart grip." LOL.

Pretty cool how the two blue stars(AO and USopen) on the bag actually match the color of the courts exactly(not just generic blue color).

this might be off topic but,
does anyone know how much lead Nadal puts under the grommet at 12 o'clock?
i want to test it out on my APDGT's and see how it plays/feels.

    Thanks

Wonder if Rafa will (actually) switch to the new and coming aeropro drive...

Sure, he's been superstitious/consistent about his equipment (original APD) in the past, but with this extended recovery break... maybe he could have given the new frames a shot (npi)?

Of course he's going to switch. He's already on his 3rd PJ and he's paid to do so. Not like his frames will change other than the paint.

Will be launching a retro frame soon, just like Nadal used to use when he actually played.

IIRC it's something like 9.5 grams of lead @ 12 and and 2.5 in the b/cap area. I tried it some years back and found it a bit too demanding on the wrists and hard to get the timing right. Very good set up though for powerful spinny groundstrokes.

Well obviously he is going to have the next PJ...

I was suggesting that with his injury and all, now may be the time to integrate the new cortex in to his frames.

Whatever colour racquet he uses it's never going to be on sale to the public!
