Rafter recommends tossing with the arm moving in a straight line.

How is it possible to toss into the court with this straight line motion?

I am currently using a "J toss" motion -- bringing the ball back between the legs (while simultaneosly coiling the body) to get the toss to land ~1.5 feet into the court.

I would like to try Rafter's way but the ball is landing right on the baseline -- I would like it to land into the court.

Most pro players toss with a straight arm. I also J toss (used to have and abbreviated motion, but I don't have the strength in the shoulder to pull it off), but with a straight arm. Not hard, along with copping the ball it avoids the ball from spinning away and renders it more stable during its flight.
