well, if I did the math right, these w/b the top 15 tomorrow! :)

    1* Federer, Roger (SUI) 11,350 +45 -360 = 10,945
    2* Djokovic, Novak (SRB) 8,310 +90 -180 = 8,220
    3* Murray, Andy (GBR) 7,255 +180 -600 = 7,075
    4* Nadal, Rafael (ESP) 7,440 +360 -1000 = 6,800
    5* Del Potro, Juan Martin (ARG) 6,275 +0 -180 = 6,095
    6* Davydenko, Nikolay (RUS) 5,290 +45 -0 = 5,245
    7* Roddick, Andy (USA) 3,720 +600 -360 = 4,320
    8* Soderling, Robin (SWE) 3,905 +360 -10 = 4,255
    9* Cilic, Marin (CRO) 2,970 +25 (r2) -45 = 2,950
    10 Tsonga, Jo-Wilfried (FRA) 2,870 +90 -45 = 2,915
    11 Gonzalez, Fernando (CHI) 2,925 + 0 -90 = 2835
    12 Verdasco, Fernando (ESP) 2,860 +45 -180 = 2,725
    13 Ljubicic, Ivan (CRO) 1,520 +600 or +1000 -180 = 2520
    14 Ferrero, Juan Carlos (ESP) 2,220 +45 -0 = 2,265
    15 Youzhny, Mikhail (RUS) 2,235 +0 -10 = 2,225

Based on what you've got there, looks like Sod should be 7 and Roddick 8. I think you've added the 600 for Roddick but not taken the 360 off, total should be 3, 960 for him, So Soderling will retain his spot

If Rafa stays healthy after the French, he will gain a lot of point since he has no points to defend from last year when he was injured?

    You're right ... thanks, piece! :)

    Correction:
    7* Soderling, Robin (SWE) 3,905 +360 -10 = 4,255
    8* Roddick, Andy (USA) 3,720 +600 -360 = 3960

Not really. DePo and Verdasco just lost 180 and 135 points respectively. Much fewer than Nadal's 640 and Murray's 420. Federer lost 315, but given that everyone else did badly, he widened his lead over everyone but Djokovic, who's 200 points closer but has a ton of points to defend in Miami plus clay. (I'd be surprised if he defended his Miami final, given how he's bee playing this year so far, but maybe he'll do better there.) Overall Federer was ridiculously lucky for all of the top 5 to do so badly after he lost to Baghdatis. Someone could have made a big move (Djokovic for instance), but no one did.

Nadal definitely has a ton of potential points at RG Wimbledon to gain, 3820 to gain and only 180 to lose. Even semis at both would boost him up a lot, especially if Federer doesn't defend both, which is a tall order.

so correct me if i am wrong here, if Murray makes it to the semis in miami and is eliminated, and Nadal makes it to the quarters, Nadal will be no 3 again right?

I don't think so, but I might be wrong too. I'm new at this rankings math, but if I did the math right, then this is what would happen in your proposed scenario:

    MURRAY 6835 +360 = 7,195
    NADAL 6800 +180 = 6980

IOW, Murray would remain no. 3 and Nadal no. 4

    argggggghhhhh .... Hello! :)

Forgot all about that ... gotta correct my math now!

    [IMG] ....... BRB

    ===== edit:

Correction of the math shows Nadal would definitely trade places with Murray in dmt's scenario...

    NADAL 6800 +180 -180 = 6800
    MURRAY 6835 +360 -1000 = 6,195

Robin Haase went up from around 320 to 210, after winning a challenger in Italy. Good for him, because he was ranked 56 when he got injured 2 years ago, and never got fit again until recently.

Djokovic, Ljubicic, Querry, Troicki, and Benneteau all lost in the second round and only gained 10 points from their loss. Murray, Simon, Montanes, and Tipsarevic all only gained 10 points, as well (as they are all seeds, and a second round loss after a bye in the first round on gains them 10 points total).

F Mayer, Andreev and Garcia-Lopez lost in the second round so they gains 25 points (as they are unseeded)

Murray got destroyed, points-wise, with his loss. Almost as bad as Rafa's huge loss at the AO.

Hmmm, is it true that Rafa can't grab the #2 spot in Miami?

djoker is at 7630 ( incl miami results )

rafa was at 6800 before start of miami

    If he wins,

    6800 - 180 (QF) + 1000 = 7620

If he loses next round ,

    6800-180(QF) + 45 = 6665

    which is more than murray's

    thx, Blinkism! :)

Question: If they're automatically in the 2nd round b/c of the bye, why don't they automatically have the value of the second, namely, the 25 points?

Do you guys know the current rankings for 2010 so far? Not the 52-week rankings, the Year-to-Date rankings, otherwise known as the race, that the ATP doesn't officially do anymore

are you saying that unseeded players who lose in the second round earn 25 points

    but

seeded players with a bye who lose in the second round only earn 10 points?

    Yes.

Players who fail to win a match earn 10 points, whether they are out in the first rd or in the 2nd because they have a bye.

My bad. The first page it didn't show him at 21 because that's where he has been at for the past couple weeks. I then went on ATPTOUR.com checked and he is 21.

I enjoyed the one match I've seen Dolgo (his nickname) play ... He's been gradually climbing the rankings this year, and this week he jumped another six levels to no. 66. He's the same age (21) as Delpo, and his father (Oleksandr Dolgopolov, Sr) started training him when he was 3 years old ... maybe that's a bit too young? His style seems brash and unorthodox. When he serves, it looks as if he's in fast motion. He's playing this week in Barcelona ... wonder if he'll still be in the draw come TV on Thursday?

As much as I like verdasco, his game is Top 10, but his head sure isn't. However, the difference between ranks 9-16 is minimal.

I'm a little shaky on the calculations when a player with a bye loses his first match ..... Blinkism explained it in a previous page, but maybe someone would be kind enough to explain it again???
