Before the RG grand slam began, rankings were published on the 24th of May, and the biggest improvement was made by Richie Gasquet at 23 levels up to world no. 45! :D

Next biggest improvement was by Jan Hajek, who went up 10 to no. 75

and of course must mention the two Argentines who both improved by five:

 Juan Monaco up to world no. 25
    and

Alright, Novak. We can get to #1 if you enter as a qualifier, beat Nadal in 1r, and win the tournament every time between now and February

    Piece of cake, right?

Alternately, replace the word Novak with Roger or Andy. I'd take either.

Roddick is very close to falling out of the top 10. That's gonna make for some very tough draws, on him and the top guys that will play him earlier than years past.

Nice find. So weird seeing the names "Berdych" and "Ferrer" in the top 5 of the ATP race while names like Murray,Roddick and Djokovic trail.

I dunno if I've already said it, but....

....as much as I love Djoker, him being #2 (this time) just doesn't feel right, considering the fact that Federer won a slam this year and Djoker hasn't even made a final. Yes, I understand that the rankings reflect how you did the prior year versus the current year but it's still....

Looking at the WTA rankings it is sad to see that only 3 players in the top 10 are capable of playing top-level tennis.
    Serena
    Venus
    Kim Clijsters

Jankovic and Wozniaki depend on the top players not playing their best. They are excellent players, but don't have that top end.
Dementieva could be there except for her serve

Petrova is at 21 - of course she will never be consistent
Henin hasn't shown it much in her comeback and she is at 13
Kuznetsova and Sharapova are at 14 and 15.
Safina is at 35 and falling.

Henin had much better results than Venus, who not only received several brutal thrashings this year (Clijsters in Miami final, Jankovic in Rome), she also got beaten on her best surface by some journeywoman. She hasn't made a slam semi in over a year now. How exactly is she capable of playing "top level tennis?" She is done IMO.

Venus played very well this spring. As she gets older she will be able to play top-level tennis a smaller and smaller percentage of the time, but she is still capable of it this year.

Nalbandian is now virtually ranked #37 (+8) after win against Soderling...
When you think he was not even in the top 100 two weeks ago !

Also, Chardy pops up at #58 (+14) after defeating Davydenko.

In the "live" rankings, Djokovic is back at #2.

Indeed, Federer has 1000 pts to defend from last year while Djokovic has "only" 600.

Also, Roddick is now #12 (+1) just ahead of Cilic.

After US Open Monday results, Andy Roddick is ranked #8 (+1 vs last week)

    See http://tennislive.free.fr

And he is #7 for the YTD 2010 results (former "ATP race")

    See http://tennislive.free.fr/race

Also, Del Potro falls to rank #33 (-23) since he cannot defend his 2009 title.

I've just noticed a strange thing: top 30 players who won two 250 events in 2010 (namely Youzhny, Cilic, Almagro and Querrey) are allowed to have a third result from this category counted in their ranking points, contrary to what the ranking FAQ states.

Special untold rule or bug in the ATP ranking program?
