    Best,

    CC

P.S. I think he's a 3.0 or so. ;) What's that funky inside out thing on the slice BH? Looks like the chubby guy was really pushing him around. Clearly the superior player.

He was running a lot and way far back out the baseline. His opponent seems pretty good if the guy was running most of the time.

    i'd say he's above 3.0

it's sad to see good ol' pistol peet has lost a step or 2.. it seems to me that his reaction time is just not as sharp as it used it be.. there's now a little hitch before he moves his feet as opposed to , at his prime, it was soo velvet..

Well he netted the first backhand he went over and hit the other 2 off his back foot.
We can't see where his shots are landing.
In a match I would attack the backhand and win 3 and 2. His serve is probably not that good anyway
Strong 3.5 to weak 4.0

Groundstrokes are so-so. I have a tough time rating a player without seeing their serve, but judging on that short video, I think his serve probably sucks.

Movement is terrible, doesnt bend his knees, doesnt get into position fast enough. I'd say 3.5 to 4.0, but I'm being generous maybe

Of course. I am very serious. Just trying to get a feel for this guy's 'true' NTRP level and need your help to do it.

So, with that in mind, let me summarize:

    1. He doesn't move too well.
    2. Based on the poor quality of his groundies he probably has a weak serve.
    3. He's playing with an outdated, overly demanding frame.

So, what do you guys think he can do to bring his game along? I understand his goal is to work his way up the SoCal NTRP Circuit to the 4.0's, maybe even the 4.5's!!

He looks pretty athletic to me, so maybe with lots of work he really has a chance!!

    CC ;)

    You're out of your mind.
    4.0 at best.
His footwork is horrible, and the backhand was off. He's too bad of a player to use THAT BIG of a racquet ;)

In all fairness, even though I rated him a 3.5, I DID say he looks very athletic to me and probably has tons of potential.

Still no tips on what he should prioritize in his training? Something tells me he might not be the best on red clay.

Oh, and this just in: turns out this guy's level of play actually went DOWN when he switched to a larger headed, stiffer, more 'forgiving' frame. Apparently he used to be pretty darned good but his game has suffered. So, would you recommend he go back to his old frame (apparently it's discontinued) or try some newer MP's out? CC

    I don't respect authority.

In all seriousness, if Pete wanted to play for fun and have some competition at some kind of sanctioned event, what would his options be? Seniors Tour and WTT, I know. What else?

It's nice to get out of the house. Same reason why some people still go to gyms when they have exercise equipment at home, to see and be seen. It's nice to be out where a lot of people are playing tennis. Lots of hotties at the UCLA track.

Terrible footwork, inconsistent groundstrokes, looks like a never-was and never-will-be. I'm sure I've beaten that guy down at my club a few years back pretty easily.

Why do we never get videos posted of any decent players to rate?

Yeah - nothing special. He doesn't really put a good sting on the ball. He also seems way too casual hitting out there.

I'd need to see his serve to be sure, but I bet that's just as bad. I bet he has to spin it in to avoid double faults. I doubt he has a decent second serve.

Oh yeah CC. I see what you are saying. We have to get your guy and my guy together for a practice session. Although they probably won't have a rally of more than 4-5 shots because they are both terrible. Especially the backhand. They really need work.

Your guy: Does some weird block with his BH.
My guy: Weird take back on the slice BH.

I don't know what we are going to do with these two.

    True. So true.

Look at these two pathetic cusses. No footwork. Strange take-backs on the groundies, peculiar follow throughs, no consistency (how could they be consistent with those mechanics??), weak second serves.

Maybe my guy's dream of playing the SoCal 4.0's will remain just that...................a dream. ;) Sad. Dreams die hard.

Keep it real, My Keen Eyed NTRP Mavens,
