Rate this years AO. The result really never was in doubt since the draw was released. A number of good matches (Djoker Stan, roger tsonga and roger Murray) but overall fairly anti climactic. 5/10.

AO Finals - Just crap. Murray was injured. Defence was 100% REWARDED. Anyone who tried to go for winners like Novak 1st set and Murray 4th set just got punished.

Every 5 setter in the tournament?

    Were great matches.

I'd rather watch Ferrer vs Almagro & Simon vs Monfils than that hyped up final.

Top 3 matches of this AO:
    1. Wawrinka vs Djokovic
    2. Tsonga vs Federer
    3. Murray vs Federer

Anderson vs Verdasco was good. Janowicz vs Devvarman had its drama. Simon vs Monfils had HEAPS of drama despite the ultimate pushfest. Ferrer vs Almagro had the epic comeback of proportions,

I've seen a lot of great matches and enjoyed the tournament a lot. Unfortunately the end rounds weren't that exciting / good, but my conclusion is pretty positive. I'd rate it 7.5 / 10.

Oh yes, forgot about monfils and his antics. Those were the highlights of the first week for me.

    Wawrinka match was the highlight.

Fed-Tomic, Tsonga and Murray were decent.

Downsides were the final, and one-sided matches (Murray-Simon, Djokovic-Ferrer).

Where is Prisoner of Birth ? The linesperson who made that "bad line call" deserves the trophy this year ;-)

7/10. Had great matches but the finish left a lot to be desired. It wasn't close to 2005, 2009 or 2012. However it was still entertaining.

Time for that post Grand Slam withdrawal

The Australian Open is my favourite 2 weeks of the year, and this year it was, to be honest, pretty bad. The draw was terrible, we knew what was going to happen the second we saw it. Top 4 seeds in semis, Djokovic walks to final, Murray/Federer tire each other out and the winner of that match doesn't have enough left in the tank to out-grind Djokovic. Add to the mix the linesperson that robbed Wawrinka of the chance to serve out the match against Djokovic & Azarenka hooting and cheating her way to victory, and the whole tournament has been pretty hollow.

The only matches of clear quality from those I watched(at least partially) were:

    Djoko-Wowrinka
    Fed-Tomic
    Fed-Tsonga

Murray-Fed was pretty decent as well. And I guess Chardy-DelPo is also worth a mention.

I didn't follow the womens side too much but god damn it, the final was awful, at least there was some drama with Li's injuries to keep things at least somewhat suspensful.

To me, it was the worst AO in many many years, it barely had any memorable matches and the final was very boring. And considering that AO usually has tons of fun five setters and memorable matches, that's saying something.

This AO sucked and was 100% predictable. The only good match was Djoker vs. Stan.
