The recommended one on the racquet is 50-55. I strung it with ALU at 55 but i found it a little bit lose. I have heard from here that babolat racquets are quite easy to crack. How much higher tension can I get in a "safe" range?

If you look at the racket description, it says you can string up to 65lbs. I string my 2001 Babolat PC at 62lbs and feel it provides a nice combo of power and control at that tension. As for Babolats breaking, I have only heard of the Pure Drives having that problem. Makes sense since the Pure Drives are feather-weights compared to the PCs. PC frames are rather thick and especially beefy around the throat area so I wouldn't worry too much about them breaking.

I also string my 2001 PC at 62lbs (though it is no longer my main racket, I still hit with it on occasion). I usually just use Prince or Gamma Syn. Gut 16, which can have an initial harsh feel. After a set or two they soften up a bit providing a firm (in a good way) feel allowing for good control and pop.

I also string my PCs at 62lbs with Babolat Hurrican 17. The only cracking I found with these racquets is with the butt caps. They were easy to fix, just annoying. Good luck!
