2 years and some months, you still have to admit that his record is far more impressive than a lot of other players...

That record of 32 consecutive Grand Slam quarter-finals is staggering!
Just think about it. It's nuts.

If memory serves, Lendl is still #2 on this list, with 14 consecutive quarters "only". Pretty incredible.

Yes, this tell a lot about his consitency in all four tournaments. His number of slam can be matched, but I don't see this record (as well as his 23 semi-final) being beaten.

Yes, the consecutive records are crazy :)

Most consecutive titles since ATP was formed in '72 (3, tied with Sampras, Nadal and Djokovic, but the only one who did it twice (in consecutive years ;)))
Most consecutive finals (10, als second with 8 finals)
    Most consecutive Semifinals (23)
    Most consecutive Quarterfinals (32)
Most consecutive match wins (27, did it twice)
And 7 appearances shy of breaking Wayne Ferreira's most consecutive appearances (56 is record)

Useless records. Only winning the Slams and Olympics counts.

Nadal_Slam_king knows a lot more about tennis that suresh, that's why NSK's posts make much more sense.

I agree. I remember people talking about Lendl's consistency in the 80s as some amazing effort - which it was. Even if he wasn't winning them all he was so often getting to the last 8 or 4... And Federer makes his achievements absolutely pail in comparison.

Even though doubles is probably more played around the world than singles ? I mean, how many singles leagues do you know? I don't know of any near me, but a ton of doubles are always going on.

Real men count everything as what they are, instead of trying to cheapen them to advance their man-crush.

Actually, real men don't have man-crushes, except on themselves.

    Important Titles

The Olympics is only a 750 point event ie less than a Masters 1000. The premier titles are the Slams and the Season end finals. Roger is doing alright with 22 of these elite events.

    Hey just wondering.
Do you have doubts on your own manhood, since you keep up this "real men" thing, and always questioning others, while your hero goes around in pink dresses.:)

Are you compensating for the insecurity related to you, or your hero ?

He needs a GS this year more than ever

Uhm. No. He needed one more than ever in 2003. Period.

Who are you to say that Federer needs to prove himself again? He doesn't owe tennis, or the tennis community anything anymore. If he retires against Delpo, to never set foot on a tennis court again, nobody will question him, his work ethic, his talent, his performance, his legacy.

    My honest feeling about this:

    1) Fed is not done as far as winning slams goes

    2) Nadal won't reach 16 anyway

As I said, just a feeling. Sounds pretty good, though... :)
