I need some advice on how to properly teach forehand mechanics to 8u. These red ball clinics have ruined my sons forehand. He decelerates, doesn't rotate enough and doesn't pull the handle resulting in a choppy push that goes in play on the 36 foot court. It's a catch 22, you want to teach proper mechanics, but you want them to see success. Most of the good shots land slightly long unless they are hit barely over the net. I think the 36 foot court is too short for a red ball. When I see videos of Europeans using the small court, they use the foam ball. I think.
When we switch to orange ball and 60 feet, it's epic failure. Would you just switch to orange ?

totally agree, same thing happened to my daughter. It depends on how much you play, but yeah, I just moved up to Orange then she was finally hitting the ball again. Nice follow through, solid top spin, etc. She hates (still does) red ball because her shots would go long.
