+1 on that. People forget or sometimes don't realize "Synthetic Gut" is a fancy term/description for Nylon. At $17 a reel, the price can't be beat...even just to have some cheap string lying around for backup use or friends who ask for freebies/favors. The biggest thing many don't realize is how well Forten Nylon works in a hybrid with poly strings. It's really soft, so a little mushy in a full bed if you're used to the crispiness of a standard synthetic gut. I've used it as a cross to hybrid with a few different polys and each time, it's worked really good in my opinion.

Performance-wise I'm perfectly happy with my reel of Forten Nylon. One thing that I was a bit disappointing though, was the black paint/coating will wear off on your balls. All my practice balls have 3 black parallel lines on them after hitting with it in my crosses!

thanks a lot. I never knew that nylon was synthetic gut, but I looked up the contents of syn gut and sure enough nylon.

I have a reel of Prince Synthetic Gut 15L in black. The only use I've had for it is in case I need to use a starting clamp to bridge a short string to the tensioner.

The other black syn guts I have are Pro Supex Titan and Spiral Flex. The latter, IMO, is the best syn gut on the market. For the price, Gosen is better for a crisp syn gut, but overall (it's not much more, like 10 bucks maybe), Spiral Flex cannot be beaten.
