Haha. Crickets on this one so far. Never seen RV play so well as today. Probably the slow conditions favored him a bit stopping Raonic from punching through the court with big ground strokes. It seemed like RV was getting to everything today. The forecast looks unplayable the next few days so heavy may be the word when this match finally takes place on Wednesday! Stan may have the same problem as Raonic, so this one may go 4 or 5 sets given their H2H, but still think Stan will be the man.

I'm picking Stan in 4. If Ramos plays like he did today he will trouble Stan but Stan's game will not be as nullified as Raonic's was and he should be able to have the answers.

SexiStanibodTheBaguetteBaker was just warming up the oven for Albert in Geneva.

Stanibod in three easy baking sessions.

I'd love to see Ramos-Vinolas win ... but Stan wants to defend this championship.

It's not getting as much ink as so many other things that have happened here, but he has already won it once (and is the only other person other than Roger & Rafa in the past decade to have done so).

yes and he won a tournament coming into French open and that is big for his confidence

RV was amazing against Raonic, Stanimal not yet up to Major Destruction-force mode against Troicki today - quite a bit too inconsistant at times, but hey, that's the Stanimal for you.

My guess: StanTheMan in four, but in case the StaniShanker shows up....   Good luck Vamos-Vinolas!

Wawrinka is so lazy sometimes. He's won the first two sets relatively easily and he doesn't want to fight the rest of the way there.

The joke match was the R16 upset in straight sets over Raonic by Ramos.
On anything but slow, wet and very cold clay I would agree. Raonic however, is not a sure thing on clay even though he has had some good performances against lesser known clay specialist. I think for him he has to play his best in "normal" conditions. Neither of those was present and ARV played a little over his head...
Think about it, Raonic in a RG quarter is s joke too.

He got there in '14 and played Djokovic pretty close, losing 5, 6 and 4.

Yes, and the draw was harder to get there IMO. He just isn't steady enough on the clay to bolster any confidence from me. No knock on him, but he is 1 dimensional and if things are not ideal he has nothing to fall back on. Their is no backup if the serve/forehand are not working. In saying that, I do think he is improperly labeled a servebot...
2014 probably his best year at the Majors too.

Aww, I'm sorry I missed the match thread.

That was some match by Stan for the first two sets. Then, of course, he had to remind us that he's still Stan. haha Glad he closed it up in 3.

lol...get got 2 games in their most recent meeting (a week ago I guess) This is good though. He should have an easy match setting him up to be in good shape for Murray.
