    NY Times obituary

    Accused of "bringing vulgarity and sin into tennis" when she wore a Teddy Tinling-designed above-the-knee skirt and lacy knickers at Wimbledon in 1949. The article also suggests her last years weren't too comfortable, unfortunately. :(
