What?!, Roche lives in Australia anyways, and i would have thought that Roche would would have been at every Australia Open anyways right? Why wouldn't he just watch Roger's matches (which is a treat) and coach him occasionally?

I posted this in another thread:

Again, as I've mentioned before, it really is enlightening to read player interviews. Gives you a heads up (or leg up) when you read future news.

I agree with Susan - this is hardly new news. Anyone who reads Roger's interviews or follows reports of his press conferences will know that the relationship with Tony Roche has been talked about for some time now.

This issue has probably come up again because the Aussie media are busy promoting their tennis season and due to the fact that Roger is actually over in Sydney right now.

It will be interesting to see any further developments, but at the moment I doubt Roger and Tony will have anything more than the odd collaboration next year.

Absolutely VamosRafa. It's unbelieve how lazy the media can get, I don't even see how is this suddenly becoming a huge hit over in Aussie media, when Federer had already given it a clear answer to that months ago.

Also how they often take players quotes out of context is ridiculous.

I am starting to get worried he wont find a coach for next year. I think that would be detrimental to him. This is amazing, the worlds best player by far coming out of his dominant 2004 season and nobody wants to coach him.

He doesn't need a coach per se...he needs a mentor/advisor. Roche may still fulfill that role.

I think he needs a coach. There is only so long anybody can succeed without a coach.
