Chris Guccione had just blast a 155 mph serve against G. Bastl in his David Cup rubber!

Previously, he blasted a 152.5 mph!!

    IMPRESSIVE!!!

I hope no linesperson or ballkid got in the way of that one. That would leave more than a mark.

I can't say... It's an important point of the match, and I don't want to spoil it :p

If I tell you what happened with that point, I tell you what happened in the match :p

That's sick. Some of this has to be the more powerful racquets.

Have you ever seen this kid serve? He's huge!! (6'7'').
It's like saying Ivo Karlovic is getting all those aces because of his racquet :)

He averaged 212 kmh on his first serve... that's 132.5 mph ;)
And add 37 aces to his personal account :)

I've never even heard of the guy, so no, I haven't seen him. I see your point, but I still think the racquets do help. Do u think he could hit 155mph with a wood racquet?

A couple of years ago, a research was done about serving with woodies and modern racquets. The server was M. Philippoussis.

The results were, on average, 124 mph on the modern racquets and 122 mph with the woodies. So, there's no much difference about that.

Anyway, I think a woodie would crash because of the inmense power and inertia of a serve like that...

More power, more speed makes football, basketball, boxing, car racing more exciting.

Its funny how more speed and power makes tennis less exciting to watch for me. In my opinion, guys like Sampras etc. are boring, watching them serve someone to death. I'd rather watch Roger anyday

ATPtennis.com doesn't list it, cause Chris is way below the Top100 (around #150)

They doesn't have a picture for him either :p

Let me find it out and I'll post it as soon as I can ;)

Andy could just have a special frame strung with all gut just for the purpose of breaking the current record serve. He could just use it towards the end of a match when he's walking through an opponent with ease. That's what I would do if I were him because like you said VGP, "What else can he lay claim to?"

Nope, officially, not a Babolat :)

    Q. Have you got good sponsorship? If not, do you think this match will help?

CHRIS GUCCIONE: My racquet sponsors are Wilson. They've been a huge help to me. I just get racquets, great racquets. Clipstringer supply me with string. Nike's been helping me out a bit. They're all great.

Hey guys, I remember there was an issue about apparently different radar guns used during Davis Cup and Tour maches, with reported speed readings higher in the former.

    Isn't it just another example?

I heard that Roddick could serve upwards of 160 but during matches he chooses not to becuase the probability of that getting in is less than 20% (an all out serve).

An underhanded serve is more deceptive and harder to return than a lame 160 mph one. Of course, Roddick's nothing but a serve, so Brad Gibert's service should be procurred again.

Brad Gilbert grinned and bragged that it won't be long til Roddick reaches 160 mph. This week, he told BBC that Roddick collapsed to #3 because Federer and Nadal stopped him. Those early round losses had nothing to do with them.
He's one dimensional to everyone, including Brad.

    I thought TW ships worldwide?

Andres, I have a quesion for you. I haven't played with a 6.1 nor do I know much about them. I do think that they are pretty similar to the PS 6.0's though. The 6.0's are filled with foam inside the grahite/kevlar fibers to dampen the vibrations. That sucks because it also muffles the "POCK - BOOM - CRACK" sound on the monster serves and groundstrokes. My question to you is: Does your 6.1 muffle the sonicboom-like sound as well?

I might switch over to an nCode 90 or another 90" head frame because of this. I like a frame that looks good, has great dynamics, performs well, and it also has to have an intimidating sound. For instance, if you were to hit a 200 MPH serve and it sounded like a golf club drive ["ping" or "toop"] then I bet the serve wouldn't really be "perceived" as a big serve, even though there techically is a lot of pace on the ball. It would look slower to the server and returner and it would "feel" slower to the server. Do you understand what I am saying?

Yet, Agassi returned Roddick's 153 mph serve and won the point. Placement wasn't too good. He had to save match point on grass against Agassi.
If Roddick served underhanded sometimes, he'd win a lot more.
Michael Chang served that way and won his lone Slam on clay.

The poor depth and god awful placement of his kick serves were easy for Ivo Karlovic to block back.

Double faults and bad line calls in their recent match also made Roddick's ego deflate.

You remind me of the Miami Dolphins kicker on Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

I mean, damn. Did Roddick beat you in the juniors or something? Have an affair with one of your parents and cause them to split up?

    "Die Dan! Die! Laces Out!!"

btw. Just joking about the parents comment. Please don't put me next to roddick on your hit list.:(

No, it doesn't muffle it at all.
Now, a "toop" sound IMO will be an advantage. You hear a "Ping" sound, but u don't know you're just about to recieve a 200 mph serve. That, IMO, is a huuuge advantage.

I see what you are saying. You like the disguise. That's a good thing but sometimes you want to hear a loud sound so that you can be reassured that you had executed a nice swing/serve.

So Andres, you don't like the cannon ball explosions that causes everyone's jaw to drop in amazement? :D I think it's a lot of fun to see that.

Maybe I'll look into the PS 6.1. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about frame customizations and frame models.

    Good day now. 8)

I find it hard to believe that even you yourself believe this.......so one cant analyze another's game unless they are better. So nobody on earth can coach fed and only fed and nadal can coach roddick? This board probably wouldnt exist without analysis of the top players' games.
