I think you just took the quote out of context, he isn't referring to anybody in particular - he is just noting that there may be a 27 year old at about 30-ish in the rankings who would be labelled as "up and coming" by some members of the media.

At least I believe that's his point.

People have been writing Roddick off since 2006. I'm actually surprised he's not more annoyed over this.

Surely he must be talking about the umpires and linesmen.

Brooklyn Decker probably wants Roddick to retire too. She doesn't seem to have a connection with tennis. And I think she talked about him having a radio career.

Obviously he is referring to people on tennis forums who start threads telling him to retire.

I hope he stays around - the tennis world is a more interesting place with him in it.
He says what he thinks, he's an elder of the game with vast experience and I find it fascinating how he's attemping to prolong his career with the game he has and its limitations.
Like empires, the decline of great, or in this case, very good players, is interesting to watch (and a little sad if you're a Roddick fan).

if only Andy could play opponents that don't try! He would be a top player again.

Do you want to know how he did against Federer in the MSG exo?

Then you will have to find it out yourself.

Mildly amusing for you Sureshs, I must admit.

Off topic, it's an odd world.... The Op used "ppl" instead of "people", thereby saving three letters. However, they then added an "s" unnecessarily on "want".

How to ruin a good English sentence for the sake of saving time to type two letters.
