Does anyone remember Roddick's coach, Larry Stefanki, when he played No.1 on Cal Berkeley's tennis team in the late 70s? I remember his being a pretty good shotmaker.

Yup, watch him when I was trying to make B's, like '76 or so.
When I started Open/A's tennis, I didn't run into him ever, so those two years maybe just unlucky draws.

Glad to read the Marty Davis cite. One of my memorable recollections is Marty Davis playing Stanford freshman John McEnroe on the carpet at Cal's Harmon Gym, 1976 (or77?). J-Mac slicing and dicing poor Marty, Marty kicking open the gym doors after the conclusion of the match. I remember some blowhards sitting behind me saying "I can hit a harder serve than McEnroe."

Why is KJ Stewart no longer playing at Cal?

Kallim Stewart played in January and February dual matches at #1, then did not play in March. Played Feb. 21, did not play against UCLA in late February, then played #1 against USC the next day. No activity after that. No ATP activity listed for 2009.
