He lost the first in a tiebreaker, and isn't looking too good, looks like the 1 and 2 seeds might be out first round. When was the last time that happened

Well, recently Agassi's problems haven't been the FedExes and Roddicks - he's been ranked high enough so that he's seeded, and he hasn't even played well enough to get to them. Before talking about winning the tournament and gloating that he has a better chance because the top players lost, he needs to get through the early rounds and through the "weaker" players - which he hasn't been able to do recently.

when fedex and a-rod around, lets say he'll surely lose 2 anyone of the 2. So when their not around agassi has a 50-50 chances to win d tourni(against 0% when d 2s around)think youll agree, Max G.

Andy fought hard through that. I thought he was down and out but he came back.

Roddick showed some mental toughness out there today. He didn't seem to be all that engaged early on in the first set. His footwork seemed pretty lazy, among other things. You can't underestimate a guy like Mirnyi. He had an excellent tournament at Toronto beating Srichaphan and taking Federer to two tiebreakers. Roddick should consider himself lucky tonite.

Mirniy completely blew it in the tiebreaker. He was up 5-4, serving and then just choked... Why is everyone so afraid of Roddick? I mean credit to Andy but once in a while i want to see somebody else winning those close matches. Lubicic blew it, now Max, who is next? Kiefer? probably.

Max has now lost 3 of 4 tiebreaks to top 2 players in the last 2 weeks.

    Vlad,

You could say Mirnyi blew it. But I've seen Roddick come up big in similar occasions. At this year's Wimbledon, Taylor Dent had Roddick down in a tiebreak like 6-2 or maybe 6-3...Roddick strings together 4 or 5 consecutive points and wins the set. This is what makes the top guys so great...their mental toughness.

I know I know, kudos to him and to Mirniy, but what I am saying is that I want to see other guys show this "mental toughness" once in a while against Andy. Something that Marat showed at AO, Fed at Wimbledon, Mutis at FO, Henman at Wells, etc.
Good match overall. I hope Andy is tired enough for Kiefer to finally beat him..

BTW, Cliff is getting more annoying by each minute. Mal did a good job to keep some kind of balance between those two. Cliff is becoming another PMac..

And people think I'm biased for Andy. What about those who are biased against.

There's a reason he's at the top, and he's shown it.

But yes, there's nothing more annoying than to have a player you want to lose on the ropes, and have him come back again. Been there, done that.

But Kiefer gets another shot at Roddick -- his third in as many tourneys. So let's see. After Fed and Roddick, he's the hottest guy on Tour this summer.

Andy really hung in there mentally and Max completely ran out of steam. Kiefer will get another whupping - I'm really looking forward to that.
