Roland Garros 2015 - Easily the Most Important and Biggest tournament this century!

Just revising this from my last years thread about the Nadal/Djokovic Final. Wherein that was just one match, this whole TOURNAMENT will change tennis forever. And it's easy to see why:

1. Djokovic wins - Finally completes the Grand Slam, proves he can beat Nadal "in his house", adds to his pre-GOAT history.

2. Nadal wins - Adds further to his GOAT resume, continues his dominance in "his house", assures a "Rafa Nadal" main court in Paris sometime in the future, first to hit 10 grand slams of the same type, at least 1 grand slam for ELEVEN YEARS, silences his critics about the King being dead, washed up, etc

3. Federer wins - Adds to his GOAT resume, completes the double Grand Slam (at least 2 of each), continues to show his longevity and tenacity, his love of the game.

4. Murray wins - cements his big 4 standing, the UK goes insane, France and Scotland party all night.

____

Thus, I am predicting this year's FO to being the most watched, most analyzed and most anticipated tennis tournament of the past 15 years, if not MORE! And if Nadal does happen to meet Fed or Djokovic, expect TT to crash yet again, just like it did last year.

VAMOS!

Personally, I'd like to see Tsonga, Monfils or Gasquet Win and then see FRANCE go INSANE!!!!!!!!!!

It's only epic if Nadal wins :)

I believe!

Yes, this has the potential to be a very special tennis event, even if Nadal gets dethroned by Djokovic, there will still be so many possible historical outcomes left.

No matter who wins, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or Murray - It will be epic.

Djokovic is crapping himself every minute of everyday.
Djokovic knows he isn't good enough to beat Nadal at Roland Garros and he knows the media is on his back (telling him he can't lose) like an obese gorilla.
Djokovic knows what's coming, and he knows he can't do anything about it.

This does indeed feel like a HUGE FO. Both Nadal's and Djoker's legacies can greatly improve and that hinges on the events for the next two weeks.

Nadal can break Sampras' record and make the case for catching Fed's record.

Djokovic can finally can achieve Agassi-level without a counter argument from critics.

Stan can show the world he's not a one slam wonder and hit through these bums.

Gasquet can take his rightful place in the annuls of tennis singles history by adding to his mixed FO slam win.

And Federer can reach the unreachable number of 18, as if double lapping everyone in a distance race.

#4 Murray then would get the chance in Oz (Djokovic's home court) to complete the career slam before Novak..maybe against Novak

Who it's really huge for, is Djokovic. If Nadal wins, most of the sports world says yup, king of clay, what did you expect. Fed wins, people will say Fed's the best ever so what do you expect. Murray wins, interesting but not massively exciting, he's a top player. But for Djokovic, this year is absolutely supposed to be when he beats Nadal at the French. For him it's the difference between best in the world right now, or a contender but still not one of the greats.

If Murray wins the French Open...imagine him winning the slam he's least successful at.

this year, and the year after and the year after that..just stop...he's had many opportunities to do it on equal footing...and he'll have another opportunity next year, and for many years after if he doesn't this year..it's been the same storyline for years, not different this year...Nadal's bulwark threatened

it's "annals", not "annuls"...that's a bad marriage

I don't think the 2014 USO will be trumped soon, in terms of importance.

No. I'd say this distinction belongs to one of the record breaking slams. Like Wimbledon 2000 or 2009. Maybe RG 2009 which shot up in importance after Nadal lost.

In all honesty, it's kind of hard to pin down the importance of a tournament before the results play out.

Hyperbole much? It's a tennis tournament, nothing more. Djokovic will probably win and complete his career GS and he deserves that at least. If not so what he'll probably do it next year instead. If Nadal wins, well then yes this is something, 10 times! But that ain't happening.
