I rolled over my ankle two weeks ago, I did quite a number on it. I'm already having therapy and that seems to be helping a lot. After seeing some of the pictures of rolled over ankles of Beneteau and Tipsarevic it almost makes me think twice about going back on the court. What do you suggest that I do in order to begin playing with confidence again? I will work on strength and flexibility, should I also wear an ASO brace? Do you guys have any experience on this? I'm a 45 year old, I would say I'm a 4.0 player. Thanks!

Wear the brace only for tennis and stressful sports. You need to build strength in the ligaments around the ankle.
Or don't, but don't run for every tough shot.

Yes, wear a tight brace. The pressure a brace offers does wonders for your confidence. It may feel a bit crowded on your foot when you first put it on, but you'll get used to it.

AirCast A60 Ankle Brace isn't bad, I have two; But I like the Mueller the One Ankle Brace; same support, more comfortable and more slimline.

Braces are useful to give you confidence and also support; just need to find the right one.

I've torn ligaments in both ankles through the years and now only play with braces. I use the ASO braces. Since I've worn them, I've never rolled my ankle. I've had a couple close moments that make me glad that I was wearing the braces.

I just recovered from a 3 severed ligaments and 1 stress fract on my right ankle. Don't try to play too early. I played early, and now I have knee tendinitis because my knee took most of the impact (when twisting) with my ankle brace on. So now I have a knee brace while walking or doing some light drills.

Most of the ankle braces nowadays all protect well. I have an ASO, McDavid, Mueller, etc etc. I like McDavid because its thin enough where it provided good twist protection but allowed me to fit into my shoes.

In my last couple of months, I've been taking fish oil. This helped alot in recovery. But mostly, just take it easy as there will always be another sunny day waiting for you when you recover.

Earlier this year I heard/felt a pop in my ankle during my service motion..turns out I damaged some ligaments around it. I ended up going to a chiropractor and he worked on it using the Graston Technique. It certainly has helped, along with strengthening exercises. I now wear a wrap on it when I play.

I'd wear a brace. I played without one after rolling my ankle and it was weak enough that I'd constantly semi roll or roll it again.
