If Federer can somehow find a way to get past Paire, I like his chances against Nadal.
Looking forward to Nadal's obituary or his broken knee at the least.
WTF would be my #1 pick. If Djoko starts losing to the Berds and Delpos of this world, given that Fed will be 32, I am starting to believe it could happen. No limit to how many records Rafa could beat this season. Already 8 finals when the most finals he's ever reached throughout a season is 12 (in 2005). Only 4 to go!
It appears to be the same tennis landscape we had pre-injury. If Djoker doesn't beat Nadal, I'm not sure who will... anywhere.
17 majors sure cause a lot of butt hurt. Isnt it ?
I'm pretty surprised. Berdych showed me a lot yesterday with his mental fortitude, while I thought Nadal struggled a bit with Ferrer. But, sometimes I forget that with the top guys they get better when 1. they get closer to the prize, and 2. their opponents get better. I'll have to try to remember that in the future.
Premature to say that I think, much as I hope Rafa continues to win. The grass court season will tell us a lot.
And what happens next? Berdych avenges this defeat against Rafa by taking out Fed in some important match :/
There you said it. Nadal has to wait for Fed to be 32 and Novak to lose to others for Rafa to win outside of clay.
And this for a player at age '27' , which is a players prime.
Moon balls will not work outside of Clay.
Why not .
No, indoor tennis.
The big record is winning at least one slam for nine consecutive years. The first to do it. The King to continue his reign.
Injured knees my a**
8 tournaments, 8 finals. If this guy was injured then his doctors need to patent their cure because this creature is a modern medical miracle.
Sorry, it's not charitable but watching Nadal dismantle Fed's game on clay is just a lot of fun. Especially after so long (Fedal haven't played on clay since RG 2011!)
But they are best when they're injured, no?
fab win for Rafa.
I'm hoping for a Benoit Balls semi victory ...just for a change. I do like his style.
Maybe he's taking vitamins
That's true. That's the biggest one and I like Rafa's form just before his first shot at it
I wonder if Rafa gets laser therapy to his knees. I presume that's legal. I get it for my dogs arthritis.
et re-merde...... what a freakin'nightmare.
I doubt Fed's looking forward to it. I'd be shocked if he lost to Paire. The scheduling has kinda sucked for Fed.
I believe he's taking something else
You talk as though Nadal has won like 10 majors outside of clay. He has 4. Out of which 2 of them could have gone anyway.
Hrbaty is the best when it comes to H2H.
Come back from your cave when Nadal gets 5 WTF, 300 weeks at Number 1, 5 years YE No 1, 5 plus major finals in each of the majors. We Fed fans have nothing to be hurt about.
I think so, too. He's been making great strides in his mentality. Now he just keeps plugging away.
It was mentioned that Byrd hired a mental coach. Something he should done years ago.
If Nadal, lost his focus, or his game just a little, Berdych could have won this match. Good signs for the Berdman. He just needs to continue, and he just might get his chance. As you said, just needs to keep on plugging.
hahaha gotta love archer.. looking forward to another fedal final but hopefully this dude makes it interesting.
I didn't hear that. Good for him. I really like Tomas.
Of all of the players on tour I would like to see him and Haas win a major the most. Last year Murray won, so I don't have to worry about him anymore.
Or something stronger.
If only it was spinach...
Haha, I am the same as you, I used to root for Murray to win a Slam every time because I thought it would be a tragedy for him to get so close so many times and never close it out.
But now that he has won a Slam, I feel 'free' to forget about him and root for all the 1hbh players I like.
Red Bull maybe? It gives you wings.
Rafa fans sure are a deranged bunch. The funny thing is that Fed can actually win tomorrow, even on clay.
man your avatar is so funny
Nadal 2nd serve points won: 100% 10/10
Well Rafa was playing better but Berdych turn to Birdsh!t mode.
Rafa's return position
I know. As a Nadal fan, this is one of the most frustrating things he does, and it annoys the mess out of me. Why on earth is he standing that far back? No wonder his returns drop so short all the time and he gets aced constantly. We know he capable of hitting his returns on the rise and further up in the court so why doesn't he do it? It makes no sense to me at all, and he makes his matches so much more difficult on himself than they have to be.
You're completely wrong (not surprising for the anti-Rafa brigade). Rafa has won a record number of 500's (14) and 1000's (23) but he hasn't padded his win total with 250's at all. He only has 6 of them out of his 55 titles. In comparison, players like Federer, Roddick, Muster, Sampras, Agassis all have over 19-250's. Djokovic is actually quite good too - he only has 7- 250's in his total of 37 title wins. Murray's championships are almost 50% 250's - 12 of them out of his total of 26.
He did have laser therapy when he was recuperating on his hiatus along with several other different types of therapy. Don't think he has mentioned whether he still does now that he's playing but if it helps, I'm sure they're doing everything they can.
Well. I was rather hoping Berdych would at least push Rafa but it appears that wasn't the case.
I missed the match.
Couldn't have said it any better myself.
