40-0 it's all over
Time to end it
i never thought i would say this. but its MP baggy
Blown 2 of them
delpo you are killing me
2 more sloppy shots from Baghdatis...
but an ace to finish
Finishes it nicely
The greek moves on
Keep working Del Po and stop thinking about the injury
good win for marcos: 62 winners for 29 unforced errors, it sounds good !
but this 1st serve % apparently still needs to be fixed. :?
last year, i think he was the top 50 player with the lowest 1st serve %... he has to do something about it !
now he'll play melzer in the 3rd round... first meeting between both.
... pame !!!
He can do this! I'm so happy he won. I was a little anxious with everyone picking Del Potro and Baghy having a tough first round match, but woo!
Baghdatis first serve percentage is absolutely alright.
Compared to Berdych' and Murray's.
What's your problem?
Delpo certainly made a huge hash of not one but two sitters right at the net. The one he tried to smash was a club level brain-fart.
Lol, you've never seen the Big Lebowski??????????
i didnt know you like to hold guns too
I didn't know Baggy was playing so well. he routed the US open champion...
Ah! Missed the match, but too bad for delpo. I still pick him to win the USO this year. Vamos!
daggone! didn't see that coming!
i like baggy so i'm glad he won, but i liked having delpo in the draw because he's been able to beat the top guys in the past (fed and nadal).
delpo got a better result than he did last year (dnp) and he's gotten back on the horse.
even though the seeding says otherwise, this felt like an upset. i hope baggy can keep playing like this and put together a nice run here!
I remember the days when Malisse had one of the biggest forehands on the tour - his forehand is still a dangerous shot, I remember watching him at Wimbledon 2002 and watching him ever since, a vast difference in terms of results, perhaps that was his peak.
His cross court forehand is still one of the most remarkable shots in the last 20 years.
he made r16 last year
and drops around 400 now
That is gutting. Time for him to rebuild his rank. He still looks top 50 even after just a few matches back from such a break.
He's playing San Jose next I think. Back when he was a teenager he was kicking all sorts of ass on the American hardcourts. So expect to go for a win there. From then on he'll be just fine.
By the time the clay will come around he'll be able to continue on as he is not too bad on the dirt, actually not bad at all. His movement looked great in this match which is a fantastic sign for all his fans.
Expected outcome. Some people were delusional in their expecations for Del Potro here. I hope he can be back in the top 50 by mid year, and hopefully top 20 by years end. It is a long road back.
Delpo will be back in top 50 before Wimbledon I think.
Yaaay Marcos!!!! Glad to see Delpo on his way back.
did not know that! ouch!!!
at what point last yr was he dnp?
hopefully from that point on he should be able to make up some ground.
It will definitely take time. He won't be back in top 5 very soon...
