yes, i spoke to the babolat rep and he said that it was gonna be two filaments(?) of string twisted together, which would have better tension maintenance and produce more spin. he said the main reason they did this was for the tension maintenance, not the the spin though. he really made that point clear.
Ah that's why I'm thinking this string is black and white. It is dual after all.
so this string is 2 colours?
Yes. Black & white. If you take a profile of the string and the colours are quartered.
I'll give it a try
So this string is a better tension maintenance of RPM? With the same spin potential? Or better?
nadal has already used this string since the australian open, you can see here how he is using the twisted string, i noticed it a while back but didn't think anything of of but take at look at this really carefully and you will see it, especially in the crosses http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/ zoom in if you can to get a better look
Sounds like a lawsuit in the works with Prince.
No he hasn't. He uses RPM Blast 1.35mm.
Why? Because of Prince's twisted string? That's a different why of having 2 colours. Theirs is half n half, whereas Babolat's is quartered.
False, as skippy has just confirmed. You're just seeing string wear.
When is this insanely great string be available to USA ? Also will this string have more Power too ? RPM with little more pop and same amount of spin would be welcome. of course on top of tension maintenance
Oh, I was kidding....
So is it a poly or multi?
Err... I was just clarifying for everyone else
Its a poly. It's to sit inbetween RPM Blast & RPM Team
How about the performance wise of this string compared to RPM Blast & RPM Team?
Guys I'm going to test this string in a week, I'm not sure whether my account works so reply if you read this please!
What the heck is this string's name ? and when is it coming out ?
No known release date & name probably. RPM Dual seems plausible to me. Maybe coming out in 2013 Spring or along with the 2012 APD?
RPM Dual is the correct name, not sure about a release date.
Pics of my sample
Here are some pics I just strung up. 17 gauge. Has some recoil memory, but not nearly as bad as Rpm blast. Looks good. I strung it in my roddick plus at 57#. Going to hit with it today and ill let you all know.
My current string is SOLINCO outlast 17
I also have a set of this to try out -- let me know how it plays, or what string you can compare it to.
I read this whole thread thinking I was learning about RPM team.
Can someone tell me the difference(s) between Blast and Team? thanks
I found that the team keeps its playability longer than the blast and it is easier on the arm.
Yeah me too the team slightly holds better tension than the blast aswell
Can you hybrid this string with another multi like NRG2 ? and is this string as good as RPM for spin production ?
Pro shop just got some RPM Dual, will prob grab some sets, anybody try this yet??
I have it strung in my PDR+ at 62 lbs...I though it was pretty mediocre to be honest. Spin was ok but not as good as fresh RPM blast... I will have to see how the tension holds up. If you swing flat it sails, if you brush up it generates ok top spin...not something I will be purchasing in the future. However, I found it stiffer than RPM Blast and PHT. I usually string those at 62 or 63 in a full bed on PDR and never have any arm problems. My elbow was getting a bit of a twinge going at the end of two hours. If you are sensitive to arm pain this may not be your string. I think there are way better strings currently on the market. The other thing is they say its two strings in one, but when you look at it it looks like a single strand of string with just two colors. I think the two string thing is a gimmick.
IMO PHT is the best string they currently make when you consider performance over time. I can pull out a racquet that was strung with it 6 months ago and can still hit with it. RPM blast lasts about a day and then you may as well cut it out. I have never tried team so I don't know how that stacks up.
What do you mean by Recoil memory not as bad as RPM blast ? can you explain ?
Found it in TW Europe. Description saids it has LESS power than RPM blast. is this true ?
Define power....and the recoil memory is absolutely terrible. Its pretty boardy compared to other Babolat Polys
I strung up one set 1,25 in my current Head Radical Twintube Oversize, in 47 lbs and it feels really soft and comfy! Have used it 4 hours now and i am really happy with the performance of the string.
I also strung up one solinco tour bite 1,20 with same tension and did not like it at all in this old OS-frame. The control was much better in the RPM Dual.
Will goof around a bit more, but so far very satisfied with RPM Dual
Got a half-set of the 17g from my stringer nearly a month ago. Strung it at (high 50s?) lbs in the mains of my RQIS 1 Tour (red/black) with Prince Lightning 16 in the crosses. Didn't like it too much at first. Honestly, I'm not used to anything but 16g strings. But they are growing on me. Nothing amazing, but the spin is there. And they look cool, if that matters.
Anyone found this string to be at all similar to babolat revenge? Or is the RPM team or blast ore similar
RPM Dual is now in stores including Tennis Warehouse!
I have been told this is really Low powered. is this true ? even lower powered than RPM?
Yes it is! It is probably because of the titanium co-poly they added which also makes it stiff maybe a little stiffer than the RPM Blast and Team. But the durability and tension maintenance is pretty good. My friend got a set of this a week ago and he says it has very similar power as the Luxilon 4g
gimmicks. they prob added a bit of titanium dioxide to color it white
maybe.... i wouldnt want to pay $16.95 for that. People say RPM Blast/Team is better
After using this for a few weeks now I really don't care for it. The biggest issue I have is it just seemed to nosedive in tension noticeably during play. I'm talking I felt a drastic change on both my sticks. I'm thinking I got 8 hours on it.. Can't say for sure but RPM Blast lasts longer for me personally after comparing both. Anyone else that used this had this issue? I had thought that was the strings selling point having better tension maintenance. My results differed..
For those wondering in comparison to RPM Blast it is a tad lower powered and feels a little bit stiffer like many others have said. Spin production seemed similar.
I tried out my friends head prestige mid with rpm dual. This is a firm string. Anyone who has arm or elbow issues shouldn't use it. It feels exactly like Kirschbaum Pro Line X. he strung his up at 52lbs and would advise not going over 52. At the low tension it has enough give to feel the movement of the stringbed. The strings move well at low tensions, but anything higher than the low 50s and it will feel harsh with no give. It is not a soft poly like rpm Blast. With rpm Blast you can dial up the tension, but it turns mushy within a few weeks. This string seems as though it will retain its crispness much longer. It is low powered like the original Cyclone, or Tour Bite. If you like softer polys with more power, I suggest you look elsewhere. Overall, I would say that this is a very good low powered stiff-feeling poly.
I forgot to add that me and my friend got our racquets strung together and the stringer looked like he was having a tough time stringing the rpm dual as i saw it had a lot of coil memory and it is a stiff string. just a heads up if you are planning to get this string and stringing it yourself.
I think this would be better in a hybrid with a soft multi or natural gut
